Since we've had more people joining our little gang I thought it might be a good idea to gather everybody on Meat & Mead and do some walkthoughs on some things. Since M&M is now running ALiVE and has the base and firing range it would be a good opportunity to help players familiarize themselves with at least basic infantry controls and equipment as well as later on ground vehicles and maybe helicopters. I will not claim that I know everything about how to do it but I would be more than happy to impart the knowledge I have gained through our great experiences together. I need to practice with MCC anyway. Any more experienced players that would like to help would of course be welcome and thanked. So, newer players, what evenings would be good for you to have a pow wow? I can do about any night this week except Tuesday, preferably after 8pm EST.
same as Kravity 8 pm EST is not possible for me ive been trying to catch you guys for some days now and end up playing the single player campaign cause no one is around and the server is pw protected havent said anything since im in the middle of my moving and if i get to friendly with a game the wife will kill me ^^
I'm not sure what my weekend looks like yet but I could probably do a Sunday session as well. I'll confirm later in the week.
I would love to get in on this. I would actually be available Tuesday but probably not until closer to 10PM EST. If we plan something for the weekend or for a specific night, I can make it work. Generally not ever before 7PM EST, but with enough notice, anything is possible. This is great Skwi, thanks for trying to set this up. I hope it pans out.
I'm in. I'll even try to attend both if I can. I am MST though, so that would be ideal. Pretty much anytime after 8PM MST on any day.
Mit, Don and I are usually online during those times, so we could probably give you some pointers if earlier times would be too inconvenient. Skwi, we might want to look into doing 3 sessions just to catch everyone. Have Aspius and Box(when available) helping new GMTers, Skwi, Gihz and Varg helping the prime time people, and Don, MH and I helping the night crew. Still have a certain day or days for it, but spread it out to different times to catch everyone without them having to stay up late, get up/home early, etc.
I took a little time last night and improved the firing range for both Meat & Mead and SRS. It's only in MCC, so won't save through a server restart, but it ranges out to 800 or so. Good practice.
I'm going to set aside Thursday night for an intro class. Anybody interested can meet me on the Meat & Mead server starting at 9:0o EST. Basic Curriculum: Intro to Arma Respect Home Base - Ground Rules Basic Movement and View Controls VAS and Inventory Firing Range & Weapon Controls Medics Are Your Friend
I'll go one step further - If I'm not in a mission on SRS, then I'll be happy to take time whenever a new player is online to give them the walkthrough. Just find me on TS and I'll do what I can to help them out.
I believe most of us are willing to make a walkthrough for someone aslong as we are not busy with anything else.
After 4 days I finally have internet again. I'll try and see if people are still hanging around when I get home.
I had not. I figured I'd give all of you a head's up prior to hopping back on so you weren't caught looking foolish.
I could use a refresher in how to set up the mods. I have everything up to 6.x downloaded and placed into a separate folder. I just forget the process for setting up the mods so they can be managed. As far as basic controls go, I'm happy with the improvements made since ArmA and ArmA 2.
Okay, current modpack is Modpack7b. It would greatly benefit you to download ArmaSync as it does the whole job of mod management for you. Go ahead and delete the previous mods before installing the new pack. Once downloaded and unzipped, in Armasync on the right box right click and create a group, then hit refresh above the left box and drag all the mods that appear into the group you just created. Make sure they're all checkmarked and then you can hit Launch at the bottom to fire up the game itself.
