so we are suppose to identify with the imperial officers who don't wear helmets? also the guys in the black uniforms. i think imperial navy enlisted.
So I just learned that Disney sent a copy of the film to the US Embassy in Baghdad so the troops there could view it the same day it came out in theaters. Thats great and everything, but, I'm at the US Consulate in Basrah, and they wouldn't bring it down here, not even for 1 showing. It's just another reminder that the people in charge up there completely forget/don't care about us down here. We have gone months at a time without ever hearing from them. We will call them and they say something like, "Oh, we forgot you were down there. Glad to hear you're still alive." Btw, theres an ok cam copy available online if you don't have time to get to the theater or don't have one. The audio is crappy in spots but the video is ok.
Theatrical trailer for Empire Strikes Back redone in the style of Force Awakens. Same guy did one for Return of the Jedi as well but it wasn't as good. I assume he's gonna do one for New Hope too.
I'll be damned, it's been a while since I actually cared about the characters in either a Star Wars movie or something directed by J.J. Abrams. That was a very pleasant surprise.
not really to do with the movie but it is star wars. canonically the x-wing in the original trilogy had a top sublight speed of 100 MGLT (Megalight) per hour. according to the games the math has been done Empirical evidence in the X-wing computer game series suggests that, within the context of the games, speed measured in MGLT per hour is roughly equivalent to speed measured in meters per second. For example, flying at a constant speed of 100 MGLT/hour, the time required to pass a stationary MC80a Calamari Cruiser (with a published length of 1200 meters) from bow to stern can be reliably observed at around 12 seconds. Therefore 1 MGLT/hour ≈ 1 meter/second, 3.6 kilometers/hour, and 2.23694 miles per hour. But since such a speed is much slower than what even present-day aircraft can achieve, this conversion ratio is probably not relevant outside the games. which comes out to 360 km/h in space. but the x-wings atmospheric speed is Maximum atmospheric speed 1,050 km/h (higher speeds possible with deflector shields on) so the games are not to be relied upon. whoops those are legends. canon it only gives atmospheric speed at 1,250 kph. nothing for space. probably because technically there would be no top speed in space.
saw it again this afternoon. was still enjoyable on my second run. as a side note though, i've been playing catch-up with the animated Clone Wars series on netflix and MY GOD that show is awesome. also unbelievably violent for what i had previously thought of as a kid's show...
i need to get around to watching the whole thing. but goddamn there are 121 episodes. rebels is pretty good too. also i think the clone wars series is about the only EU thing that disney kept as canon. well I consider EU because it's not a movie. yep was doing some research so the clone wars cartoon is EU but they say it is canon while the EU is not canon.... make up your minds disney.
I'm thinking they keep pretty much everything BEFORE Return of the Jedi but nothing after. Or at least everything between I and VI
