GROUP EVENT [Nov 19, 2022] Monthly Meeting (END OF YEAR PARTY!) (Discord)

The holiday season is upon us! Everyone ready to overdose on 'nog and cookies? As we have done for years now, this will be our last meeting of the year so that people can have more time to be with family and friends that don't require an internet connection. Therefore, we would like to say goodbye to 2022 with a final online party to send off the year! Doesn't matter what we do as long as we do it together. So load up, log in, and help us finish off 2022 right! (hey, at least it isn't 2021, right?)

Schedule of Events (all times EST):
2:00p - PARTY STARTS! (have games installed and ready to go!; see discussion below)
5:00p - 1 hour break before meeting
6:00p - last meeting for 2022!
7:00p and beyond - post-meeting party (break for dinner?)

• Avorion 2.0 - probably the single most stable "space empire sim" out there right now.
• Company Heroes 3 - release date TBA
• Divinity 2 - best D&D coop experience on PC?
• Elite Dangerous - current best space combat sim?
• Foxhole - isometric battlefield simulator
• Space Engineers - huge updates to economy and combat. also, water biomes and NPC encounters confirmed!
• Star Citizen - the 800 gorilla; waiting for a "finished game" is unrealistic. the server meshing update might be a game changer; TBD.
• Valheim - our best and most popular "viking sim" game; recommend waiting for Mistlands update (or later)

Removed from watchlist/backburner:

• NOTE - all these games could still be picked up and played by members. If more interest picks up in these games, we can return it to the table about doing something official.

So what y'all want to play this day? I recommend something we can reasonably fit more than 4 people and something that can either be finished or "paused" within a 3 hour window. Ideally, something we could start around 2pm EST... and we could always continue after the meeting if needed.

Stuff off the top of my head, all of these fit that bill:

• Among Us
• Carrier Command
• Foxhole
• Hell Let Loose
• Mount & Blade: Bannerlord
• No Man's Sky
• Regular Human Basketball
• Sins of a Solar Empire - would need to be set to "fastest" game settings
• Tabletop Simulator
• WH40k: Dawn of War (might be tough to get Crucible mod working for everyone for this event)

 

Honestly, I think a vote on the list at the spur of the moment might work pretty well? But I'd wager Carrior Command 2 with some Among Us, or Foxhole

 

With the exception of Hell Let Loose and No Man's Sky, most of the games are pretty small, so yeah, that could work. I suggest that anyone who doesn't have these games installed beforehand should show up earlier. I will try to be on at least an hour early to make sure everything is good to go.
