I don't care how people groom themselves, I just wish more people would take my attitude and quit being judgemental about a guy with long hair, long as I keep it professional why should anyone else give a damn about whether my hair is long or short? >.< I blame the Romans. Fucking Romans.
I stereotype people in seconds based on appearances. Who doesn't? It is based on your past experiences and perceptions. Dress like an antelope, get eaten by the cheetah. I think it comes down to how much you care about the perception other people will have of you based on your appearance. Perhaps more important is the potential threat that perception may be to your job or even your safety. Don't give a damn? Grow your hair where and how you please. Wear a wicked awesome trench coat while carrying a broadsword slung over your shoulder. Do whatever, look however. But realize and accept that stereotypes are out there and you'll be thrown into one for better or for worse. Don't get your fucking panties in a knot when you are stereotyped though. You accept that risk when you make appearance and behavioral choices. If it's not a choice (skin color, disability, etc), your attitude and how you deal with it ARE your choice.
