    I. Finding Character Assets:

    In case you haven't figured it out already, this requires MekHQ and the most recent campaign save.

    II. Selling And Buying From the Unit Hangar:

    NOTE: The main benefit to buying and selling from the Unit Hangar is that you can sell assets for a higher price and buy new units for a lower price than you can on the regular Market. Whether or not you can sell your mech to the Unit Hangar is dependent on if the mech you are selling is desirable enough that Command will want it (this is decided by the GM). Technically, the player loses all claim to the unit once it is sold to the Unit Hangar. However, players are encouraged to get permission from the previous owner before purchasing a previously owned unit (old owners might want to re-purchase their old rides later when they have more money). Abusing this mechanic to hoard units will not be tolerated (again, should be regulated by the GM).

    @Crave: With reservation, I will allow the unequal distribution of armor to your right arm, but there needs to be some side-effect to simulate the shift in weight to one side:

    GM ADDITION: This quirk cannot be removed using normal rules (quirk removal cost = 20% of unit's Used Cost + 1 month @ factory level facility) unless armor is balanced evenly.
    ========

    Keep in mind this ruling is VERY SUBJECT TO CHANGE if I feel it is being abused for min-maxing purposes.

    Let me know if this is acceptable or if you want to change it.

    UPDATE: Issue resolved. Crave is re-balancing his armor instead. :)

    K, question about DHS conversion: The 500k cost for conversion to DHSs is separate from the cost of the modifications that I see in the MekLab?
    The total cost for my Vindicator (Buying it, modifying it and installing DHSs) in the MekLab is 3,528,720 C-Bills. If I'm understanding this right I need to add 500k to top of that.
    If that's the case, I need to change some things.

    Ignore the actual modification costs in Meklab, they are replaced by the Tech Point system outlined in the spreadsheet download in the first post.

    You go by the actual purchase cost of the base variant to determine how many Tech Points you have left over to modify with. I'm at work so I can't look it up, what is the purchase cost in MekHQ for your Vindicator?

    The basic cost for the VND-1R is 3,181,083.
    And yes, I missed the spreadsheet. Oh, boy... seems like I'll better start with some stock loadout mech. I'd rather get into the MekaMek a bit before trying to mess with that stuff.

    It's not bad once you've used it once or twice.

    The base cost rounds to the nearest 1mil, so your Vindy costs 3mil or 6 TP. That leaves you 2 TP for mods. You can move/swap any item that is 1 crit slot (except CASE) for 1 TP, or any bigger item except engines and structure for 2 TP. Converting to DHS is 1 TP and is a separate cost from other mods.

    Adjusting armor is free, but if you have to remove something to add armor tonnage then it will cost the same amount of TP required for the size of the item being removed (ie, dropping a ML to add 1 ton of armor would cost 1TP, but leaving the tonnage the same and reallocating the points is free).

    I'll need confirmation from Mags on this but I believe starting players are limited to Level 1 tech for their first campaign, meaning DHS would not be an option right now. That would apply to Ibex above as well if true.

    Copy that. I was considering getting Crab or 4P Hunchie and it seems they may be a bit less... troublesome first mechs.

    I appreciate the enthusiasm, but this thread is better left for just submission of designs. If you guys want to talk shop, feel free to post a new thread.

    To clarify some things:

    You MUST start with a Intoductory Bos Set mech and the purchasing cost is rounded to the nearest 100,000 not 1,000,000; that 3,181,083 Vindicator you mentioned would cost 3.2 million before upgrades.

    unfortunately, because two of your ten DHS require crit slots, that also means you will need an Advanced Equipment upgrade... and if that is the case, it might just be better to wait until you have 1.5 mill so you can get the DHS and upgraded weapons all at once... or best option; since you have 1.1 mill right now, borrow 400k from someone (do not ask for it here)
