Hey Mechwarriors, listen up! Settle down, settle down. Kulandinglar! Stop giving Ravenwater a purple nurple goddamnit! You're Mechwarriors, not children!

Okay, now, as you know, we grounded here on Thule two days ago. I know, I know, our relocation from Rasalhague was a little abrupt, but high command felt that the situation warranted it. We've received reports from both the neighbouring planets of Damian and Richmond of raids by a unknown 'mech and vehicle force. These unknowns were only interested in a few, very specific targets. Usually, water and food supplies, armour plating, and ammunition. Their raids are very quick, lasting no longer than two days. They are also skilled pilots, destroying most of any forces that meet them on the field. They are not running IFF, and they paint their 'mechs and vehicles standard cammo schemes, so we don't have a clue who they are. And so here we are. The Brass thinks that these guys might be hitting here next, so we've been sent in as additional forces to help out the 1st Hussars garrison. We've set up patrols about three klicks out from both the water distribution and treatment facility, and the agricultural depot. So, keep your eyes sharp, your scanners tuned, and use your brains! I don't want to see anyone pull hero, or your ass is mine.

At least a company of 'mechs, probably more. And at least one confirmed Armoured vehicle company, with at least one other unconfirmed. Nothing is known about the type, most of those that fight them are dead and their 'mechs destroyed or missing. We do know however, that there is at least three heavy class 'mechs, and a full lance of lights. Really, we don't know much, because the reports we have came out with merchant dropships coming off planet after the raids. These guys somehow disrupt communications.

I believe Damien got jumped last week sir, he's in the infirmary. Or was that Damon? Damion? I forget. Someone's in the hospital sir, so I don't think jumping them would be very fair. I'm all for hitting a man when he's down, but not one of our own. I don't know that I could, in good conscience, give my men that order.

Currently, we are tasked with defending the cities of Arnhult and Olofsered. The port city of Arnhult is an important strategic point because it controls the only major waterway between the Vik Sea and Lake Thorik as well as the only northern land crossing between the Vik and Husavik continents. Olofsered is equally important because it is important trade city between the three different continents and (combined with the Pilica facility) is the only major industrial zone outside of Thule City.

No doubt the enemy will be looking for holes in our defense. Their previous tactic has been to strike quickly and retreat before a counter-attack can be brought against them. We will have to be ready to move quickly and cut off their escape route. If we can slow their retreat, their dropships will be forced to leave without them. They will no doubt want to reconnect with their dropships, but if we can keep them running, it should buy us enough time to either destroy them or cripple their forces severely. With any luck, we will deal them enough damage they won't want to attack any more Rasalhague planets.

We will split our forces evenly into two Battle Groups with at least the following:
x2 Lances of Mechs
x1 Support Lance (Mobile HQ)

Battle Group #1: defends Arnhult
Battle Group #2: defends Olofsered

2nd Company (MBT) OR 3rd Company (VTOL) will be assigned to one group each. I will let you take first pick (discuss among yourselves). If no consensus can be met, I will pick for you. Both 1st Company and 2nd Company will work together. As for Mech Lance Leaders, I will let you choose who deploys where, but I will decide if no decision is made.

The dropships will remain in reserve and on standby to intercept enemy Aerospace assets... most importantly, enemy dropships. Once their forces have engaged ours, we need to scare those dropships off the ground ASAP otherwise this trap will be all for nothing.

The Leopard will be available for fast transport if it becomes a priority, but expect to be slumming it for most of the battle.

 

on a side note... apparently, a mobile HQ unit got drunk and lost in the northern pole... ignore them
