power supply question

for all of my experiences, changing the MB requires a new licensed copy of windows as that's how the windos os is configured. can change ANY other component in a computer and keep same copy of OS but change the MB required a new copy.

 

If I manage to scam my way out of that, I will let you know. :/

 

My brother managed to do it a few years back, but it was an almost brand new computer and current version of Windows. A thunderstorm did something to the MB and fan controller...basically he started the computer and none of the fans came on but it kept running. By the time he realized there were no fans the cpu was already hot enough to melt the MB. He took pics of the damage and emailed them to MS, argued with them about it for a week or so, but they eventually caved in and sent him a new activation code.

So it is possible that they might do something like that for you, but they are not going to make it easy.

 

Ive changed the mb on my computer and put the same copy of windows on it. No problems....

 

It depends on the license, OEM versions of windows will likely complain.
