I lost my Sennheiser HD 205's a couple months back after iirc. 8 years or more of good run.

They were pretty cheap when I got them, like 70€ or so and I needed ones that could allow the other earpiece to be rotated off the ear. Unfortunately because of this I had to choose a set that felt very tight and sort of always hanged and pushed at wrong spots, on the ears and so causing irritation and mild pain over time.

I don't want a headset, I'm going to get one of those less than 10€ mics instead.

What I need are good headphones that should be hopefully less than 90€ and should be super comfortable. Bonus points if there's mild water resistance so they can be worn outside. Doesn't matter if they keep noise out or not but bonus points if there's any extra bass sound.

Tried to look at the old thread about headsets but it focused on headsets, some of the gear recommended I felt was too expensive and some of the most praised items are not even being sold anymore I think.

It can be slightly over 90€ if you think there's a substantial leap in comfort or quality.

I would recommend the Sennheiser HD 429. Comfortable and tough as nails. Audio quality is great too. I got them for 80 euros a while back, but according to google you can get em for 60.

I can second Sennheiser, I have a pair of PC360's that are about 2 years old that I love.

I'm looking at Sennheiser HD 518, anyone know anything about them?

It's stretching the budget a bit upwards and wondering if it's worth it. On the other hand those 429's look really nice and price isn't that bad either.

I have had a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 PROs since I built my 2nd gaming machine in 2006. They've probably seen at least 15 hrs of gaming time/week on average over the years, been wrapped up, tossed in a bag, and taken to all sorts of lan parties, dropped by their cord, spilled on, and they still function just as good as the day I bought them.

When I used to work for an electronics store, I tested a bunch of different, more expensive sets of headphones, and nothing came close to the balance and accuracy of the sound in the HD 280s, not to mention the modeest price. I guess if you're looking for punchy bass out of the box though, you'd want to look at something else, but I can't recommend the 280 PROs enough!

It's not all about the bass. They're a bit over what I was thinking but it reads they're monitor headphones. Always wondered about what everyone is talking about, tempted to go for them.

And you did say you worked at electronics store.

Tough call. 60€ vs. 160€. Guess I'll need to sleep on it.

Shit, it's 100€ difference and the end of year will be tight, tight budget.

Guess I'll go with the 429's because it's still a decent thing and low cost and I don't work with music or art. Got to save that 100€ for a rainy day. Overall need to look further down the road and maybe squeeze an extra month of runway because I've got a gut feel that it might come in handy.

Ordered the 429's. I was able to grab a mic to go with it and 3 bottles of pressurized air for keeping the computer clean as I just ran out on it. And it still cost me 50% of the 280 Pro cost.

Though I'll remember the 280's if I should get rich some day.
