the Bi-plane makes for one hell of a dirt runner and tree jumper with a turn speed fast enough to get most anything into its sights. although i'm only 2nd teir its fun pulling down bigger faster planes with a cloth and wood coffin strapped to my ass

I actually dont really like the russian planes. I mean maybe I just have to get to the Yak 9s and the 37mm but now (lvl 6-7) I am not having that great a time with them. I actually avoid playing them cause I just dont know how to fly theese things. They behave kind of randomly sometimes they turn pretty well other times they turn like shit and the end result is that I have no Idea what to do with them. Least favourite country of all the planes...

So far my Russian impression is mixed, I don't know how to fight with them either. If you dive with them they literally break apart.

Are there any low-tier Russian planes that aren't overpowered? I like the looks of them but I don't want to have to take a shower to scrub myself clean after every engagement. ;)

I would say that russian planes are in the middle. They can do everything and nothing.

I wouldnt say that they are OP on any tier but well i play HB. In AB on the other hand they are considered OP on most tiers.

Oh I see. So I can use them without feeling cheap in historical but not in arcade?

I played some more russian today in arcade and still have mixed feelings. Once it was an awesome battle with me having 9 kills with only 2 deaths and the other time I just got wrecked. Still think the russian planes are too unpredictable I cant say when they turn well and when not (which speed and which altitude).

I just tried one of the Russian reserve biplanes.

    Holy hell it was awful.

For a start that telescope is a joke. Why on earth would I want a telescope hogging my view when I'm engaging targets at 600m at most? I have to zoom in to use the (much clearer) ironsights and then I lose my peripheral vision and it's hard to track people turning away.

Then there's the fact that the fucking thing can't decide if it wants to comply when I want it to climb or not. I skimmed the ground on one ground attack run and on another, pretty much exactly the same, rose comfortably precisely when I wanted it to.

The turning was a bit difficult but I wasn't too fussed about it.

Still took out a few ground targets and put a few holes in an American plane but overall a pretty shoddy experience compared to the other nations' biplanes.

Or maybe I'm just terrible at the game, I don't know. :p

last time I flew the Russian bi-plane as a ground attack vehicle I KNOW I had 3-5 people on my ass at all times. the ability to run low and slow with a turn radius that most planes cant even do while taxiing is beyond funny. maybe they just click with me.

Go on the test flight, make every maneuver you can think of 5 or 6 times at low speed (180-240kph) med speed (241-300kph) or high speed (+300kph), the object of this is for you to learn the FM for that plane. If you don't do this you cant really be used to them enough to get the most of out them.

I can also recommend finding out the spots where your plane will stall and maximum dive speed in test flight.
