This is the list of our vehicular assets. Post as you make acquisitions or lose our assets, and I will update this first post: Wheeled: 1 Marshall 1 Gorgon 2 Marid 3 Ifrit HMG 2 Ifrit GMG 2 Hunter (unarmed) 1 Strider 2 HMG Strider 1 HEMTT Covered Tracked: 1 Sandstorm MLRS 2 Sochor 3 T-100 Helicopter: 2 AH-9 1 Ghosthawk Fixed wing: 1 Neophron
Add an AH-9 to the list. Snatched it after the pilot set down for engine trouble. 7.62mm lodged in the main rotor. Don't look at me. He was the one holding still long enough for the shot.
MH and I managed to take an airfield and get a Neophron out. I had to land it on a blacked out runway with a great deal of fog during the night, but I managed to set her down (albeit a bit of an intense landing) at our airfield. I have my jet again.
In addition to the Neophron Don flew out, through the afternoon and evening we ended up snagging 2x Marid, Sandstorm, T100, and a Sochor. Losses in battle, T100, Marshal, 2x Marid Change +Sochor, +T100, -Marshal from what you have Don
Question regarding fixed vehicular assets: Since we are technically working for AAF (I think that's right anyway), does that mean we can get access to some AAF vehicles like the Gorgon, Strider or the Mora? Besides what we capture of course, but that would keep in line with immersion a bit more as far as spawnable things that we would have available from our sponsor/employer.
In my opinion, I would only really see the Strider as reasonable. The way we've been behaving prior to this, we've been more like independent contractors than anything else. Regardless of what faction we're aligned with, I don't believe significant armored assets would be available to us. I'd personally be reasonably alright with having access to a couple of striders (not an infinite amount) as patrol vehicles that we can use for transport and insertion, but I don't think we really should be able to have more than that. Besides, with what we've been doing now, we seem to have no difficulty getting things we want. Within a few days we manage to get everything from tanks to jets. In my mind, if we want something heavy we should have to rip dead crew members out of it.
If that's the one that you guys retrieved right when I left last night, it actually counts as one of the two that Sheo, Ben and I captured earlier that evening.
So should we assign one person each night to make a post about what was pillaged that night? Or should we keep it as is and post what we took when we log off?
I don't think we necessarily need to have one person, but just make sure that you onlyreport what you or your play group actually captured or lost. That'll go a long way to avoid confusion. Also, if you want to tell a story feel free, but I would prefer a simple: "+_______ -________" at the end.
+2x T100, +2x Kuma, +1 Tigris, Had a Mi48 but Gab took two rockets getting it out and we didn't have any fuel left in the fuel truck for a second ghosthawk
Spoiler: Story time! MH and I had a rather productive evening. It started with me halo jumping into friendly territory to destroy an objective. When I landed, I found a couple squads of OpFor launching an amphibious assault on a friendly armored column. I repaired a Kuma and jumped on the gun to support my allies, then I noticed a Gorgon sitting abandoned. MH hopped over and after we dispatched the invasion force, we took our vehicles on a crazy journey through hostile territory in an attempt to obtain a few more friendly vehicles for ION. MH took a few 40mm rounds from a Marid, so I parked the Kuma between his Gorgon and the Marid, then jumped on the gun to deliver a HE round through the windshield. MH repaired himself and we got underway again. Next up was a squad with a few underslung grenade launchers who sent grenades all around us, but luckily none connected. We made it to another town and were ambushed by a fireteam with an AT soldier. MH took an AT missile right up the ass, but somehow survived it. I again parked between the aggressors and the Gorgon, took an AT round right in the rear left corner (luckily causing no damage) and returned fire with an HE round from about 30m. I should have switched to the mg, but he was reloaded and looking at the freshly repaired Gorgon. Finally our travels brought us past the main airfield where our luck ran out. We were swarmed by at least three Marids who disabled MH, then blew out the tracks of my Kuma. I took all of them down, but they had bought enough time for two T100s to show up before I could dismount and repair. The Gorgon had blown up by this point (you'd have to ask MH how as I was a bit preoccupied) and I made a good showing, putting an HE round into the tracks of one T100 while sliding an AP round just under the turret of the other, but their combined firepower was just too much for my wounded Kuma. We decided we hadn't had enough and halo jumped into the power plant near the airfield. MH landed in the solar panels and came under heavy fire from a Marid and a fireteam, so his landing didn't end well. Meanwhile, I said over TS "I'm about to do something incredibly stupid" and actually stuck a halo landing on the roof of one of the power station's towers. I proceeded to take out the fireteam and Marid that took MH down, giving him the chance to respawn, at which point he went running into the heavily defended airfield like a madman. He had the drunken swagger of Borf Himself going for him as he ran across the airfield, scanning the hangars and finally ducking into one while I gave him cover from my tower with the MXC. There were Marids and T100s all over the airfield and things began to look grim for our heroes. But several lucky (and a handful of well-placed) shots had all eyes on my tower, giving MH the breathing room he needed to cross the compound to a hangar with a Neophron parked in it. I continued to rain 6.5mm hell from my tower as MH fired up the engines and took off through the fog under a hail of mg fire from the T100s. A Kajman we thought abandoned gave chase, but it couldn't match the speed of a jet and seemed to be annoyed at the 6.5 rounds pinging off its hull from a tower 800+m away. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to make him put it down, but it did give MH a chance to reorient himself since the fog was so heavy that he was flying on instruments alone. With just 142 rounds left for my MXC, I felt it was time to make my escape. Using about 110 rounds, I managed to drop the dismounts from two Marids that MH gave CAS on, blow the wheels on another, and take out the crew of the third as well. Seeing an opening, I slowly descended the ladders in the tower (remember kids, safety first) as MH took care of the T100s and generally caused havoc on the airfield. When I made it to the base of the tower, I kept my head down and made it to the third Marid, repaired the wheels, and gave the Kajman a couple 40mm presents. Unfortunately, it's really fucking hard to hit a helicopter from 800m with a grenade that has one helluva arc. But I managed to grab the Kajman's attention, at which point calls of "Oh shit" could be heard on TS as I held the gas down as hard as I could. The devilish fog finally cleared, giving MH a chance to set the jet down fairly successfully. And as he set down, I was leading a Kajman on a merry chase in my newly acquired Marid. With fire and rockets raining down all around me, I led the Kajman over AAF territory, where it was quickly brought down and its crew executed. I gave it a quick patch up to keep it from exploding, but it had a giant hole in the fuel tank and needed more serious repairs than my toolkit could offer. So I took the Marid back to base where I came across this: A successful, if unorthodox landing. After giving the jet a few repairs, MH took the fuel HEMTT while I drove the repair one to recover the Kajman. It was a fairly standard recovery from friendly territory, ending with a Chinook carrying a fuel HEMTT back to base, where we found this: Maybe our base isn't as secure as we thought... Long story short: +1 Neophron, +1 Kajman, +1Marid A very successful night ending in 40 OpFor troops killed, 6+ Marids destroyed or stolen, and 2 destroyed or disabled T100s.
