So there I was, playing MWO (my first mistake) on skirmish mode (my second through eighth mistake) in my boomcada. I was on the FRR Hub so as not to take away from Fluffy's 12 mans, and grouped with one other guy (a Hussar, I think). Match is River City Night, we get the city side. I immediately box myself in the back of the citadel, waiting for mechs to come around the corner and popping off shots. I fire all my rounds, killing 2 mechs. Seeing no real reason to die unnecessarily while the match is still raging, I find a nice little corner, face the wall and power down. Not 2 minutes later the rest of our team dies. Then it begins. First, the "what are you doing?" Which I don't even get time to respond to before... Followed by "He's hiding somewhere, like a noob." To which I respond, "Why yes I am!" Then the "oh he's not playing die like a man!" And I reply, "No weps, no ammo...how in the world can I fight? Why should I kill myself?" Then the "you're an asshole I'm gonna report you!" I love these posts, "U mad bro? Do it, see what happens. How many people did you kill?" "2" "Good for you, I did as well." Then the "You're on my kill list. I didn't even have one till now but you're on it!" To which I just laugh...as none of these guys will probably be playing next week. Throughout this whole process, they're all trying to piece together where I am and relay it to the other team, who cannot find me for the life of them. Before I know it times up, and I laugh my head off. ....and because of the title, I have to imagine what they must look like on the other side.... This one works.
Mercer had a similar experience last night in a match we were in. The funny thing is he wasn't even the last one alive. We had an afk'er sitting out in the open that they couldn't find either. Mercer wasn't even trying to hide till the end. He was just waiting for the group to split up a bit so he would have a better chance one on one. Somebody I had dropped with before was the lead asshole on the other team. I won't drop with him again. What a dick. Our own team was trying to relay directions but they were too stupid to realize that if you haven't seen the guy you are spectating move the map doesn't update, so they kept trying to send the other team into the center of the map. edit: i took out the name of the guy i had mentioned. I had it two different people with very similar names confused. Both people I had dropped with, just different people under different circumstances. edit 2: plus there is that whole name and shame thing as well.
1) Name and Shame is only applicable to MWO public forums to my knowledge. 2) If, however the group is a friendly group or someone/group you feel would be very hurt by stating their name, fair enough anyways and probably for the best.
I'm curious. If you are this effective with AC40 on a skeleton, why not play a larger chassis with better survivability? You could still use the exact same tactics, but would have better options once you are "discovered"? But, hey, it's your game too! You roll the way you roll! [edit]: I actually could see this being more effective when total tonnage comes into play.
Damon "The Bully" Howe and his Boomcada "Crybaby" ( for short). Making young boys cry since [Insert year]
You know what would be great? Not displaying weapon loadout info when targeting enemy mechs. Make it a guessing game, or if you're close enough look at the actual weapon models on the mech. Random enemy:"Oh, a Cicada, better watch out for those medium lasers LOL" Damon Howe: *pulls trigger* RE: "OH SH-" *dead*
That would be the case if BAP was modeled correctly, instead of FrankenBAP countering FrankenECM while all the interesting BAP functions are whored out to "modules".
I'll just leave this for your stroll down memory lane of could've/should've/would've But don't worry we are getting cockpit glass on the 21st!!
Yeah, though Russ says they won't be able to make it display cockpit damage until a later patch, so I'm not really seeing what the point is.
