Well this game has confirmed that I thought, loved the old games and this new one has been great so far. Added to the fact that I seem to have a somewhat hidden fetish for chicks with long dark hair and an English accent id be willing to give this game an 8/10 so far.

Also rather glad that they gave Lara a more realistic body this time around... even if she seems amazingly agile for a human of her size..

    How are the TRESSEFFECTS?

I've heard mostly good, though there is a disconnect between the story and her actual actions in game (killing bitches left and right). And that it's pretty much a scripted spectacle action game instead of the open-world survival I was hoping the reboot would be.

only thing I really dont like is that she gets all emotional over killing people then in the next minute you kill like 7 dudes.... but then I am not that far into it yet. Has all of the old puzzles and what not but you are right its not open world.

One thing I did pick up is there are a lot of mini challenges in each area that you would miss if you just went straight story route.

It's not quite farcry 3 but it does give me hope that the genre could come back. On max specs this game is just amazing to look at, almost as good as current day 3d movies.

Interesting review on Rock Paper Shotgun I think, goes into the fact that its a great game when it lets you play, but it has apparently an overabundance of cut scenes and scripted events and even takes away your camera control frequently rather than letting you play. Any thoughts on the guys who have it?

Having just finished the game, gotta say I rather liked it. Decent story and very Tomb Raider (magical mysteries tours!) Also somewhat reminded me of the early prince of Persia games before they went all "you can never die". There are a number of "scripted events" but then since everyone and their dog is going for the whole quicktime thing these days I wasn't surprised. Camera control was fine, couple of times I wished it was a little bit freer, but overall good. As I am a rum guzzling pirate I am glad I didnt pay a cent for it, but in hindsight if I did I wouldn't have been disappointed.

    4/5 stars from me.

Good to know, thanks Dran! I'll have to look into picking up a copy sometime in a few months, after the returns come in and are a bit cheaper.
