Anybody play any of the total war games? Right now I like to play Empire Total War with the American Civil War mod. I also played medieval 2 total war with the Lord of the Rings mod which was pretty epic lol. First total war game I played was Rome Total War, and I can't wait for the new Rome 2 Total War to come out. Think I will definitely have to upgrade my computer for that game lol.
I've got empire, but haven't really played it that much yet. tried the Medieval Lord of the Rings mod though, that was awesome.
I've played them all. Most time was spent with firts shogun and medieval. Played alot of empire as well. I really haven't gone into any mods. Multiplayer on napoleon was balanced excellently (except the russian artillery). Currently i don't have that much time for that series as the campaigns tend to be quite long and i didn't like the mp in shogun2. The first shogun really blow my mind back in the day, that is this kind of wargames possible Before that it was mainly hex based games.
I remember my first battle defending against mordor, it was awesome!!! lol The music made alot more epic lol
agreed I spent alot of time playing Rome Total War, I was amazed that something of that scale was even possible lol
I've played em all but the first, actually lol. I've really loved the series' approach that combines the best of the real-time and turn-based worlds. I'm a big fan of Empire, though personally I find that there's just not room in those maps for the Civil War mod. Too many soldiers, too few space. Just my two cents though. All the TW games have really added something pretty big in their installments, IMO. I NEVER thought a game would come along and make Line Tactics fun for anyone but the hardcore history buffs out there, but TW did a really good job! Naval combat could use some work, but they did well with that too, even with its flaws. Can't wait for Rome: TW 2! It was really the hallmark imo.
The Total War series itself is a hit, every single one of them. And add on that the fan-made mods, it simplay becomes awesome. the New Rome 2 is supposed to have more than 500 Units and moar than 100 minor factions and 130 map-pieces. Thats twice what Shogun 2 had. This game could be a real hit for the ages
Big fan of the TW series. Personally, the most enjoyable ones are Rome and Shogun 2. Can't wait for Rome 2, it looks like they've really gone apeshit on it
I like Darth mod for Empires, there is a new version out, Platinum issue. I am looking forward to Rome2
Darth Mod is amazing for Empire!!! I always like giving each unit its individual Regiment number, and army designation(1st Army, 2nd Army, East Prussian Guards, Koenigsburg Militia, and so on)
I have Rome, Medieval 2, Empire, and Shogun 2. Medieval 2 is by far the best TW game ever made. Even if you ignore the mods, the game itself and its expansions were above and beyond what a TW game should be.
Conceptually I love these games. But for some reason I get bored with them really quickly. Shogun 2 I played for a few days and just didn't come back, not sure what the issue way.
