This makes a lot of sense to me. Wehrmacht is by far the most straightforward to use. Pretty strong across the board. Not surprised they performed so well. It doesn't surprise me that the Soviets were very popular, but lost a lot. They have a lot of strong plays, but require better micro to make the most of them. They face off against the Werhmacht a lot and I think that affects outcomes quite a bit. The Soviets are an easy to play, hard to master faction for sure, but if I recall correctly, a lot of the favorite Soviet units got nerfed pretty significantly in recent months. Maybe the results of this tourney will give reason to improve them. Americans & Brits were the biggest surprise to me. I can see how the specialization-focus of units for the Americans works for them, but I think its highly dependent on the Commander you pick (Mechanizaed easily being the most popular as I expected). I was not expecting the British to be so unpopular in tournament play. The lack of mobile artillery does make a lot of sense, though (fortifications die too easily in vanilla play). Not at all surprised to hear that what play the British did get was universally Lend-Lease (its so good). Was expecting the OKW to do better, but again, they suffer from lack of mobility like the Brits so I guess that makes sense why they are less popular in tourney play. I think that also helps to underline why the OKW and British are more popular in casual play where players can afforrd to play more defensively.
