I would totally be down for putting a time out for inactivity, it bothers the heck out of me. For that matter I would like to see people that are inactive for more than say an hour be moved to afk. There are some members that I have to manually move there about every time I get on because they are set to auto connect and then idle.
I think those sitting in AFK are there incase they are needed, or know that that can be "poked" at any time, and have a message lefted, I would rather see them there, than not online at all.
I was contemplating a time limit in the afk channel quite some time ago, in the end I decided against it due to arguments posted already. To be honest I don't see an issue with it, I'd rather see a lot of people in the afk channel than like 4 people on the server in total.
I will start checking everyone for time connected, anyone online but muted is in the AFK channel after 1 hour
I do not mean to make an argument.. but time connected does not really mean anything. If I have been on for 6 hours and have stepped away for 5 minutes? I understand if someone is idle for a while and you have not heard from them for 30+ minutes. Sure, move them to AFK. However, the only way to police AFK is using the built in system without going to a bot. With that said, you could look at something like this: http://addons.teamspeak.com/directo...S3ServerMod-Multifunction-TS3-Server-Bot.html BUT, I honestly do not think it is needed. If one of the assistants or admins go in a room and there are people who are not there and the folks in the room say they have been gone for 30 mins+ move them to AFK.
Check announcements. Also, moving and merging this thread with the other TS issue thread in Site Issues section at the bottom. That's where things like this belongs.
that annoying moment when the forum says the thread you are moving doesn't exist, oh its just Trev ninja moving it before me also link to Fless' post in announcements so you don't have to bother to actually go look it up on your own. http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index.php?threads/team-speak.7770/
