Kickstarter link so after watching AtV today I felt compelled to check out the kickstarter. looked pretty cool but i freely admit i haven't played any of the previous ultima games (didn't touch a RPG until KOTOR). didn't see any discussion yet so wanted to ask those of you who did play those games back in the day what your thoughts are on a new one entering the scene....worth slappin a few bucks down?
Ditto. I spent so much time playing the original when I was a kid. Don't think I ever beat it since it just kinda throws you in with no obvious goal other than to find the princess and escape. The amount of latitude it gave you, especially considering how ambitious a concept a first-person dungeon crawl was in of itself, was pretty remarkable. My favorite was trying to work out what all the spells were by trying different combinations of runes and accidentally casting the one that destroys the world.
arx fatalis was the previous attempt at this, I think it called to get the license so it was an ultima underworld without the name... Wasn't bad. May drop a few bucks on this.
