Do you really need a 1000watt power supply?

I can highly recommend a contained CPU water cooler, my Corsair unit has made a huge difference.

Once i found something i like with PC hardware i tend to stay with it. Been using SB since i first started building PCs, Also been more then happy with them. Plus i a 3D Creative headset so it works well with the Sound card. I will look into the Asus Xonar as you suggested, Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for the tip, I have always stayed clear of water cooling, Never really trusted it, This opinion is based on nothing else than superstition and witchcraft.

You neem using the water cooler a while ? Any maintenance you have to do to it.

I got it about a month ago and haven't touched it. What I'm using is the Corsair H50 which is preassembled and filled so all you have to do is mount it and plug it in. Temps average around 33C at idle and around 55C under load playing Star Citizen.

    I've got the Corsair h110i
    [IMG]
It is very quiet for it's cooling power, and it's very effective. Playing new games merely usually just increases fan speed rather than CPU temps.
Been in heavy work use and no issues so far. The liquid inside is such that it doesn't clog and stays the way it is.

Some early "DIY" watercoolers were often used with tap water and it would lead to things like growth and clogs forming inside the warm water due to impurities and organic matter in the water. Also, since people with varying skills patched them up themselves they sometimes got the pressures wrong or didn't think it through and caused spillage.

I've got all my company stuff relying on this thing holding it together, in other words a lot of money paid to us in advance relied on it and I felt comfortable with that.

Btw, the part that goes on top of CPU / GPU glows with white light showing that cool Corsair logo. It looks cool if you have a see through case and it really keeps the hot air out of the case and off of the motherboard. Since the heated air is already exiting the case secondary heating to Ram and other parts is significantly lower.

I don't know how it works though. It's got these two things that are like sort of propellers that go round and these electric cords go to the CPU, I guess they give more power to CPU so it won't get overheated as easily.

It comes as fully packed etc, you don't ever see any liquid and it's just about attaching the fans to suitable place on the case and then attaching the contact part to CPU. If you want it to work you'll also attach the power cable to power supply.

Are sound cards needed these days? I haven't had one since the days of Soundblaster and haven't had any issues. Granted I just run two speakers and a sub.

It could also depend heavily on the Mobo, a lot of them have support for 5.1 but the quality might not be great when compared to a dedicated quality card or some "let's just add cheapest 5.1 integrated thing we can find".
Also had issues with things like Mobo's integrated sound getting signal leak from the mobo that makes a horrible high pitch monotonous beep whenever sound is turned on. That was awful.

That said I currently have Mobo soundcard in use, didn't buy a separate one as I don't have the speakers to go with a proper one. My current desktop speakers can't produce as good sound as a dedicated card.

For my sennheiser 350s and now their next iteration of them my xonar stx made a big difference as compared to the integrated sound card due to the higher gain requirements of those headphones.
