So, I want to upgrade my computer in the near future. I plan on saving up around 500 bucks, and possible get a GTX 970 once it becomes available
    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/review-nvidias-gtx-970-is-the-gpu-bargain-of-the-y/1100-6422522/

    Current System:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
    System Manufacturer: MSI
    System Model: MS-7752
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
    Memory: 8192MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

I also got GTX 970. 980 was like 120€ more. Sure it's better but, 970 looks to be better than 780 so I think it's in a pretty sweet spot with high quality/cost ratio == very low cost/quality ratio. It looked by a glance that 970 is going to be very heat efficient which is always nice especially if you are like me and your office is the size of 9m3 or so (it's a wardrobe room with clothes hanging in the space not occupied by my rig).

Imho 12g is plenty enough ram, I was going to go for 8 myself but then I realized that some of my Unity projects take up more than 9gb when baking stuff in etc.. So I had to go straight to 18 and it showed on the budget as well.

I'm going for 4570 for CPU but it looks like it's nearly identical on performance with 3570. We could practically be rig-bro's since our builds are so similar.

I second that, just bought a 980 the other week. However if you want performance/cost the 970 is way better. I personally recommend the strix version of it.

Iäve got the same CPU and to be honest, I wouldn't say you need to upgrade that just yet. You should do fine for another year I'd say. I would however recommend you to go to 16Gb of RAM at least.

Running star citizen on three monitors at very high had my system using something around 13GB.

So for 500$ that should be enough for a 970 and 2x8GB of ram.

    *looks at Trevnor's fine shoes*

See, mister, what you really want with this is the extended warranty. And, for you I'll throw in Genuine, Original hollow-point diodes to the mobo, what we like to call mother board *HUE HUE*, which will save you half of the computer's price during the first year alone! After that they'll essentially pay the computer back! Imagine, a free computer, usually they cost 250$ but for you I'll throw it in for just 99$, don't worry I accidentally ordered one too many last week so don't tell anyone of this special offer that's just for you.

Well now, this puts me in a spot to choose between the R9 290 or GTX 970. Both are about the same price right now from what I've seen with the GTX beign just a touch cheaper. I've had good luck with both AMD and NVidia in the past so I'm not brand loyal between either company.

I used to make 160€ a day when I worked in sales. The thought of having to stay there for one more week made me want to kill myself so I left.

Yeah, I know all about the cross-selling, up-selling dirty talk of sales. Mind you, it was in a Canadian Tire, which didn't pay nearly that fine....

BTW, I'm only running two monitors, but you do make a point. If I have the 500, why not just go for the 16 gigs of RAM

Base salary was barely 1000€ per month, 50€ day. You had to earn commissions and then they'd deduct the base salary from them before paying any.

I temporarily lost almost all hope on humanity. The more you lied the happier the customers were and the more they bought. It was slaughter. I really saw how it's not about people buying things but rather stuff being sold onto people who don't need or want the stuff, just by using manipulation and lies. It was horrible.
