    Hek of a build
    Tigris (g0t nothin')

Someone in the Alliance was suggesting the Hek was just a joke compared to the revamped Tigris. I beg to differ, however both are unreasonably ludicrous weapons at this point XD over 90k dps (and this with just the build that I thought was best for them, might be able to eke out more with some tinkering) I can get the tigris damage (burst) over 100k by switching to non-status mods, however this website does not actually take status into account in it's calculations so, those status (such as bleed and toxic) that do damage aren't included in the numbers at all. This of course would lead me to believe the Tigris is actually slightly better than the Hek (slash damage) but they're both ludicrous already :p

The above builds are great, but I noticed your choices in polarities could use some slight changes to improve compatibility with other damage mods.

    Here's an example:
    http://warframe-builder.com/Primary...6-5-168-5-480-7-453-6-171-11-167-9/en/2-0-81/
^I swapped Blaze and Blunderbuss' positions and gave Bluderbuss a 'V' polarity while dropping the "D' polarity on Chilling Grasp. With that minor change you can now swap out for any elemental damage without any real penalties.

You will also notice I dropped Seeking Fury one level; that single missing point in Seeking Fury doesn't really change much in terms of damage output. I did this so you could fit one more 11 point damage mod on if for some reason you needed to drop Blaze (most likely when fighting Corpus).

I guess the big difference is if you keep that 'D' slot, it can really get in the way if you need to drop Chilling Grasp for some reason.

really wish they'd add some additional weapon mods with the D, that are actually of reasonable value. :p Or simply stop putting the D as a default on weapons :p

Just a long overdue update for anyone looking at this thread.

The standard Hek is a nice beginner shotgun, but here's a more fair comparison between two top contenders:

    Tigris Prime = Huge Alpha
    https://goo.gl/gSzAhR
    221505.055
    BURST DPS

    55745.578
    SUSTAINED DPS

    -vs.-

    Vaykor Hek = Streetsweeper
    https://goo.gl/KWVJ3f

    175269.693
    BURST DPS

    72276.162
    SUSTAINED DPS

The Vaykor Hek works more like a tactical shotgun and the Tigris is currently the closest thing you will get to a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun. The Vaykor Hek has the advantage in Sustained Damage output, which makes it better for clearing rooms full of your average enemies. However, when you run into fewer, tougher enemies, the Tigris Prime is the Boomstick King. To be fair, about 90% of everything you will see can be easily killed with the Vaykor Hek. However, in very specific situations against tougher enemies (especially in Boss Fights, Sorties, Index, and Conclave runs), the Tigris Prime absolutely dominates.

Edit: I actually made a mistake in the builds above. Both include "Shotgun Spazz" and they should not. On paper, Shotgun Spazz looks great, but what I found was that in practice it doesn't really benefit you as much as replacing it with a good reload speed mod. If you can get Chilling Reload, I recommend that in place of Shotgun Spazz. To a lesser extent, Tactical Pump is also okay for either shotgun. Ammo Stock is a good alternative in that it increases your magazine size so you don't have to reload as often, but it does require more "reload discipline" and I haven't tested how it works with the Tigris' unique firing mechanism.

The burst damage for the Tigris isn't really comparable anyway, it literally amounts to 'can you kill it in two shots, if yes, Tigris can do more damage in 2 shots than just about anything else in the game' The only weapons that could compare equally with the Tigris are those that share the same trigger mechanic, or are simply bullet hoses, but those tend to suffer from the same issue, out of bullets, reload. The Hek puts out more consistent damage over time.

    I wasn't finished with my post! :p

I went back and editted some information.

Generally speaking, yes, you are right. They roughly perform differently.

For those who don't know, these should not be confused with the basic Hek and Tigris which are no where near as good.

excepting that the basic Hek can use the syndicate mod which gives it one hell of a leg up over most other basic weapons.
