I'd love to try any of them. I bought some of the Rogue Trader books when I was in Australia but couldn't talk anybody into playing it.
Well there's your problem. If we can find time in the weekends that mesh up I could potentially GM for you. As said, I have been GMing the 40k games since the first release of Dark Heresy, so I just about know the system inside and out. I prefer GMing anyway. I guess I am just a glutton for punishment like that.
Scheduling is always the fun part. Sometimes you just have to say "I can run it at X on Yday" and hope peeps show. I am currently GMing 4.5 games per week (one is every other week) and playing in 1 game. With some work deadlines creeping up on me, it won't be starting for a minimum of 1 month. Now, from research: Black Crusade lacks some of the history and character creation that Rogue Trader had. It is an RPG, but seems a little more forced in my opinion to fit certain stereotypes.
Certainly. Unless your group is used to the FFG-W40k system and really really want to play the untrustworthy servants of the Ruinous Powers I would advice against it. All BC-groups I have GM'd have ended with a violent series of betrayals and backstabbings the likes that would leave a Skaven green with envy... and probably warp stone. Only War is the game that seems the most like RT in the sense of history and character creation, the biggest difference being that you are effectively cooperating as players to create a common history in your regiment.
I was talking a bit about this with Bear and Flessar. I would be interested as well, just not sure when we would be able to do it.
I still have the character sheet that works for RT, DH, and DW. Not sure if it works for BC or not. I also have the ship sheet if you all choose RT. I'll get you the links for those after work, Demon.
Votes are looking like Rogue Trader, and that seems to be a great one for RPing. Now... on to the planning.... and scheduling.... and planning schedules....
I remember that; hopefully, things will work out better this time around. On a similar point, I have a question: are any of these options conducive to grouping up characters of different races?
40k is -extremely- racist, at least between one group and the next, about the only group that isn't unreasonably xenophobic is Chaos, they welcome everyone into the warp XD
I foresee Rogue Trader allowing some flexibility here, compared to normal 40k. As Damion mentioned, the whole 40k universe is full of hatred and ethnic superiority. Not a fun place to live 8)
I had a Ratling Sniper in RT once. He made a delicious meal known to the world as "pudding fries". That stopped some of the racist comments directed at him.
Looking around I did find one RT book that gave guidance for other races, but only for Orcs and Kroots. If you do anything besides that well idk how all the math would work.
GM bastardized something house ruled using the rules from... um, whatever the new Imperial Guard one is
I have officially picked up the Rogue Trader rule book. Now I need time to read it. Options I have for running a game are kind of limited, but Sunday is probably the most likely. Earlier in the day would be better than evening for me. Thoughts?
