Yeah, it's definitely intended as a follow-up to those, and I still stop and listen to the Grizzly Hills theme any time I pass through. Dalaran and Storm Peaks were amazing too. Blizzard games overall have pretty good soundtracks but they really knocked it out of the park with Wrath.
It's from Timothy Seals. He has done some real good remasters/mixes of old Mechwarrior tracks. Summoner is probably my favourite alongside with Clan Wolf.
Heaven Shall Burn's new album dropped today. I'm a fan. Wanderer is the band's 8th album, and it shows some pretty decent forward movement compared to their last couple of releases. They replaced their drummer since their last album in 2013, but it doesn't seem to have put a huge damper on things. One of the elements that they really bring to the table with enthusiasm is a tremendous pair of dueling guitarists in Dietz and Weichert. I will say that the album itself has a pretty weird delineation literally right around halfway through the album at song 7 or so. The first half the album tends to come across with a more expected metalcore sound and pacing to nearly every song, but, starting with song 7, they veer away from that dramatically. That's where they drop a cover of Sodom's Agent Orange, and it marks the introduction of some distinct thrash elements with the tone, the frequent presence of speed-picking. That continues throughout the rest of the album, as well as dipping into more of a melodic death metal sound with some serious effort put into building ambiance. Now, if you're a metalcore purist, or just really love what they've done in the past, that might leave a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth. Personally, I loved it. My heart has always been more in melodic death metal more than metalcore, and I really appreciate the tonal and rhythmic varieties that the second half of the album brought to the table. Because of that I'd like to distinguish between the two halves with my recommendation tracks: 1st half (tends to hold closer to metalcore by and large): Passage of the Crane (linked above) Downshifter- 2nd half (where we see more thrash and melodic death elements): I couldn't find decent quality links for either, but the full album is available on spotify. Corium A River of Crimson Overall, I'd give it a 7 or 8 depending on what mood you catch me in. Worth a listen.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Ghost just released a new EP on Friday named Popestar. But it here. 1. Square Hammer (Ghost's new single) 2. Nocturnal Me (Originally performed by Echo and the Bunnymen) 3. I Believe (Originally performed by Simian Mobile Disco) 4. Missionary Man (Originally performed by Eurythmics) 5. Bible (Originally performed by Imperiet) Square Hammer and Bible are immediately two of my top ten favorite Ghost songs.
