guys, let's try to not clutter this thread up with parodies and memes. We have a better thread for that.
Not sure how many of you are familiar with SamoStudios, but they have an awesome catalog of remixed soundtracks from diverse sources of nerd culture. Some real top quality stuff here: You can catch their lastest work here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVp9mxsL4ALPxBHqMh2UUzg
Not sure if Samus' traditionally laconic dialogue would make for much of a movie or TV series, it would almost require the introduction of an outside operator, which might be jarring to the typical Metroid fan. Otherwise it'd be much like a movie about Link from the Legend of Zelda, a two hour montage of hup, hai, hyah! Briefly interspersed by other characters he somehow manages to converse with in his limited dialogue options.
It'd be easy to screw up but that's true of any video game adaptation. Giving her an operator in the form of either a Metal Gear-style radio contact or a suit AI like Cortana to fill in things that the audience won't otherwise know seems reasonable. Plus Samus has a decent amount of backstory to focus on so the series wouldn't need to just be "find Metroid, shoot Metroid" for a dozen episodes. It could work with good writers.
I've been listening to a lot of Tremonti and Alter Bridge lately. I've been struggling to learn to play guitar (about 5 months in) so I've been listening to a bunch of new (to me) music.
There has been many successful movies done with minimal dialog in the past two decades (Cast Away probably one of the most famous). It is completely plausible to do an "authentic" Metroid movie. Another popular route would be to make it into a "musical spectacle" like Fantasia or Interstella 5555. The more challenging part would be getting a director who could nail the tone. It would have to be a far darker, scarier experience; PG 13 at the very least. Unfortunately, I doubt any production studio would want to take that chance in the current famously risk-adverse age of Hollywood without a competent and talented director who was truly passionate about the project. However, crazier shit has happened... maybe one day. And to keep on topic... more music! Carpenter Brut's Turbo Killer music video is exceptional. Can't believe I didn't post this earlier: They are also working on a feature length film based on the concept that will be "a live action space opera by SETH ICKERMAN & CARPENTER BRUT. A female ghost challenges two space hunters into a galactic chase..." Fucking. Epic. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2050134024/blood-machines-turbo-killer-2
