I am currently reading the Repairman Jack series:
    http://www.goodreads.com/series/40868-repairman-jack

    The Agent Pendergast series:
    http://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8=✓&q=agent pendergast&search_type=books

And finally the Charlie Parker series:
    http://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8=✓&q=charlie parker&search_type=books

All three of these are basically detective series' with supernatural bent. Not as fantasy as say, the Dresden files, more like X-files meets gumshoe.

    All fantastic. Highly recommend!

I have e-books for all of them so if anyone has a reader I can digitally lend them.

Is it really lending if the lendee doesn't have to return the copy?

I read the first 3 of those, didn't make it to the second trilogy, is it good? Personally the first set were entertaining but pretty average.

Yeah, that can happen with these books.
I might be biased, probably am, because I really enjoyed the first trilogy as well. But, for me, at least, each trilogy gets better than the last, so yeah, I think they are pretty decent.

I think it is worth it, I felt it has improved as I have gone through the series.

It is a "popcorn" book, but it does raise some interesting concepts about future tech and humanity

Lots and lots of 40k novels. I've burned through about 4 novels since Christmas and I have a pile of three more novels and 6-7 omnibuses.

    Edit: Just to clarify...

I just finished Ancillary Justice. Pretty good. Going to keep on reading the Three Musketeers and Anne of Green Gables.

I'm about to finish the Harry Dresden Files. Looking ahead on what to read next, are those Warhammer books any good?

Dresden Files is such a GOOD series.

I'm a bigger fan of the WH40k Sci-fi than the Warhammer Fantasy. If you get into the WH40K then definitely check out the Horus Heresy series - it's probably the best continuous group of books in the WH40K universe. There are other good novels out there as well but the HH series is a must-read in my opinion.

With Warhammer 40k, I would start with Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn series. They focus more on the day to day life of the Imperium and less on the military campaigns. Plus, they're damn good stories.

And Gaunt's Ghosts! You need Gaunt's Ghosts!

I also recommend Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! for additional reading. It's got some pretty fun adventures and tends to not as GRIM DARK as most of the other W40K books.

Been reading the first 3 Halo books.

    The fall of reach
    The flood
    First strike.

Was not sure what to make of them before i picked em up. I have been surprised though, Well written, Darker then then expected. Also lots of fucking huge Navel fleet battles!!! Commander Chief is not the only chap written about, A hole bunch of different characters to learn . Never knew the Spartan program was about kidnapping toddlers from parents then spending the next 15 years torturing them.

I really enjoyed that series more than I was expecting. But you're right, the Halo franchise is pretty dark. A lot of hopeless situations, and shady shit going down. I really enjoyed the fact that they focused on a lot of other characters other than the Master Chief as well.
