I played through the intro trial thingy. Not overly impressed so far.

From what I've heard it sort of reminds me of EVE Online (perma-death), but with swords. I might be over simplifying. It sounds intriguing, but If I don't even have time for Guild Wars 2, I don't think I should pick this up. Maybe if we get enough people...

Was planning to check it out now. BLAM! Server maintenance until after bedtime .

    Maybe tomorrow.

I have played it, some. Almost level 3 even.

    First impressions, meh.

It has an interesting concept of interfacing with everything, like opening doors by having to repeatedly hit a button, but it wears very thin.

Much of the concept behind the game appears to be very Final Fantasy-ish.

It's not bad for free, but yeah....

My main gripe is that is isn't very Wizardryish. Permadeath also seems less like a game mechanic and more like a money sink.

Dying is more like some random goombah walking up to you and going "It would be a real shame if something were to happen to that pretty character of yours. A little insurance money would go a long way to ensure nothing bad happens."

Experience may vary in EVE, but if you replaced said goombah with "player", sounds about right... in a bad way. :unamusedcat:

I'm not sure I agree with ya, Thronen. I distinctly remember losing my last point of Vitality while in the inn and dying at age 3. Or going to the temple... murmur, chant, pray, invoke... Oops. Wizardry is nasty on death, there were just ways to cheat it.

Yeah, the huge cost of dying in Eve, and the sheer number of assholes who would gank you 'just for the lulz' is one of the reasons I quit.

I play games to have fun, not to get so pissed I want to swing a cactus.
