I think most of us gave Legion a pass, but if anybody's up for BfA I'm going to be playing it. I'm presently in Sheogorath's guild, which is a great bunch of guys but is honestly completely dead atm. That said it was pretty busy at the beginning of the last expansion so I hope and expect to see everyone again for this one. In the meantime there's still tons of fun shit to do in Legion so hit up Erebine on Argent Dawn any time you want to watch me pretend to know wth I'm doing.
My main is on Sargeras currently, by that I mean the realm. Still level 90 I think. What ever panda land was. I may join eventually as sub time will work for both vanilla and current tier.
Legion has been probably my favorite expansion after Wrath, (no surprise, it evokes it a lot) and BfA is shaping up to be an Old God expansion so I'm pretty jazzed to go insane and die in unspeakably horrifying ways. Plus Sylvanas is in charge of the Horde now so we're all like super fucking doomed.
She had a cameo in Legion too so you'll want to be sure to do Azsuna on your way to 110 if you'd like a little more of her backstory.
So I haven't played in a long time but I am thinking about giving it a go... but I would need a bit of pointers/start over
Depends on what you want to do I guess. If you want to catch up on the content you've missed, then a subscription includes every expansion except BfA. The zones scale with your level now, so you do 1-60 in the Cataclysm revamps of the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms areas, then you can pick either Outland or Northrend for 60-80, then either the new Cataclysm zones or Pandaria for 80-90, Draenor for 90-100 and Broken Isles for 100-110. If you want to jump right into BfA, buying the expansion includes a free level 110 boost. The way that works is you can make trial characters that are boosted to level 100 so you can get a feel for how they play. When you find one you like, you can use your boost to level it up to 110. Then if you need gear you can get it from dungeons and raids of course, but also from world quests which will pretty quickly get you geared up enough you can do Burning Throne, which is the last raid until BfA actually starts. You might be able to skip all that and just go directly to the pre-patch though, I haven't had time to check that out yet. My battletag's jdp#1696 if anybody wants to group up and do stuff.
So I started up my account again. Only popped for a few hours so far. Also checked all my stuff and the changes so far. So many skills gone or different. Checked auction houses prices.. inflation is hell. I have smutmog gear I was hanging on to sell. So I could make a quick buck. A few pieces are now in the 40k to 60k price range for my server. They are very rare leggings that show much more then what they did before the graphical updates. I’m Guessing you are on the horde side.
I wouldn't worry too much about gold right now. It's not hard to come by and there's not much to buy unless you're raiding or doing mythic dungeons harder than maybe +5 or so, since consumables, enchants and gems are all pretty much not a thing until then. My main is Alliance since originally I was gonna play with Sheogoraath and that's what his guild was. I do have an Undead Priest I could do something with though.
But the alliance the baddies this expak. let me explain. Spoiler The alliance has been corrupted by the old gods. You can tell by what has happened in the game and by things that will happen in the next expak. The old gods are two sides of the same coin. One can not exist with out the other as light always casts a shadow. They are just like the naaru they can be both light and dark. The light and shadow are just a power to be used. Currently we know these things. Alleria hears voices in her head to kill her sister and that she is the true enemy. These are the voices of a old god. The reason the old gods fear the undead is because they can not be corrupted by them. This is why Arthas was able to use the remains of a old god and never be corrupted by it. This is also why undead have shadow resist as a racial perk. Calia Menethil is brought back as a light undead by anduin. Afterwards he says that it wasnt normal and that it was as if the light was just using him, instead of him using the light. This is also why Voljin chooses Sylvanas to be warchief because she cant be corrupted. He made is choice based on visions from the lao. He states that he never trusted or liked Sylvanas, but she would be the one to save them and that many will not understand. In the next expak the alliance get lightforged draenei and void elves. Both of which if we go by what we know would be corrupted by the old gods. While the horde get the mountain cows and a form of night elves. this is quite opposite to what is said in the sylvanas warbringer videa. Sylvanas is told she has made life her enemy, has she though. The alliance are getting two races that are most likely corrupted by old gods while on the other hand the horde are getting cows and night elves.. Unless the cows and new night elves are just as corrupted but kind of hard to tell currently. but this is just my opinion this expak is taking a very lovecraftian horror approach. my main is also alliance currently.. thinking of a gnome huntard or draenei to play
I kinda like the Horde better thematically but honestly have never worried much about which faction is more evil. On the way to level cap my guy has single-handedly murdered thousands of people up-close-and-personal-style, literally just for the experience. It's not something a good person would do.
If we go even deeper into it. The alliance had paladins only in vanilla, old god corruption. While the horde had shamans, which uses the forces of nature. The Draenei are on the alliance side and the reason they are now on Azeroth is because velen saw visions. These visions are actually from a old god to resist the burning legion. The old gods fear sargeras because he wants to kill them all. That’s the entire drive for sargeras, kill the old gods and anything that gets in the way. If it can be used it will be used to kill the old gods. Like how sargeras used shaman ner’zul to eventually create the horde. He was one of the first to turn along with guldan. Ner’zul is how the lich king came to be which is how we now have the undead. The undead that can fully resist the old god corruption. It’s all very simple. Alliance is secretly being manipulated to serve the old gods. The horde exists because of sargeras to hopefully resist and kill the old gods.
Just finished the scenarios for the pre-patch event. Spoiler: Kalimdor Scenario God damn it, Sylvanas. Spoiler: Eastern Kingdoms Scenario God damn it, Sylvanas.
Shadow and light are one in the same. The masters of the old gods are the void. You can not have shadow without light. This is why priests have both shadow and light magic. This is why Illidan kills that naaru. He sensed the power being forced onto him was wrong. That it would corrupt him and it was not the way. As only someone foolish enough would think power doesnt come at a price and that "chosen one" is some sort of fate to a path to greater power. we are mortals we chose are own fate.
