Publisher and developer was Hello Games But the real problem is/was that the distributor (aka marketing) was done by Sony Interactive. They represented it as a fully priced AAA game.
Yea, there was review embargo and shit and to last minute they were lying about the features included such as multiplayer. People got right to be angry when big corps lie.
Was wondering. In likelihood, they should have delayed a few months longer to clean up the port and some of the functionality.
You can kill the horse, bring it back to life, beat it till it dies and then just bring it back to life. You can keep doing it for a long time.
For those of you that are interested, several game news sites are reporting that Steam is accepting refund requests for No Man's Sky regardless of playtime at the moment.
Have I ever expressed my love for Gaben? Gaben delivers us salvation and saves our wallets from fraudsters.
My apologies. Whats actually happening is that several people have filled for and received special case refunds after the normal cutoff. Valve isn't doing it automatically. You can still get the refund, but you have to make a case with customer service.
still...that they have to put that disclaimer on the page speaks volumes as to the state of that game, lol
Now even Sony is on with that. Even Sony is giving refunds for No Man's Sky bought from PS Store. Apparently you don't even need to explain it. "I want my money back" is sufficient when it's for NMS. Quite. This could be the biggest flop in recent memory. But there are some pretty strong contenders.
I'd comment about some of Derpy Shartz games but I believe they have to be officially finished to contend.
I don't think of it as a flop as much as over ambitious for such a small group, with being pushed out to soon because the average gamer can't deal with the release being delayed to get the game where it needs to be.
In space no one hears of your release... Blizzard did it all the time before succumbing to Activision. There was "raa raa not happy" but when they did release people were ecstatic. Never buy into the "had to release because gamers were demanding it". I do get that the developers may be forced by publisher to publish too early, that does happen. Developers also can be screwed over in financing by the big corp that keeps all the money. But the big corp has absolutely no real necessity to publish raw. They will however insist that it wasn't their fault in hindsight. Though during release, before it and often afterwards they will insist with all their marketing might that it's the full deal and finished and all.
If I remember correctly hello games received multiple death threats for delaying the game. The vast majority of the game community for No Mans Sky just seems very adolescent from all the things ive seen.
