With all the hype, I never realized it was primarily for PS4.

    That certainly changes things.

After the bullshit with PS3 I never saw the reason to buy PS4 and I still don't.

But also I see no reason to pay a full price for a half arsed PC port. If they can make it run on PS4 "you'd think" it would run on PC. That they're having trouble on that end clearly indicates that Sony paid a big portion of their funding or else it was a condition to get published on PS that they primarily focus on it even at the cost of PC version.

    If I'm paying I want a PC version. I don't want a port.

Looks like it's safest to wait for a while and see if they get around and fix the issues with PC version. I'm still tempted to get it but only if it really works. Also eager to see if and at which pace they keep expanding the game, that's a big thing in these kinds of games - that you don't just abandon it but use the revenues to make it better, do all those crazy cool things you had to leave out from the initial release version.

Platform elitism always slightly baffles and amuses me. Whenever people set themselves up seriously as gatekeepers for various fandoms or groups, be it gaming or cosplay or whatever, they generally come across as assholes. Don't be a gatekeeper, just let people enjoy things.

EDIT: I'm sure, sure, that I've been guilty of it myself at some point, and yep, I was being an asshole if/when I did that.

The way I see it is from the player/explorers view. There are 3 space faring races already, + the player who is a different race, so why are there no cities or other civilizations around? All you find are small scattered outposts and some monuments to their civs.

I know they have talked about adding more content that includes more structures and stuff in dlc's later, which you may or may not have to pay for.

This thought has occurred to me also. Does everybody live in those giant space station D-n-D dice that we just don't have access to? We only have access to the "Space Port" and not beyond due to space germ reasons? That's what I shrug it off on for now. Hopefully it will be expanded on, who knows? That and who is shooting at me? I have pissed off someone but I do not know for sure if it is the Vy'Keen or not. Are there space pirates? Do the factions war with each other? I am avoiding videos to avoid spoilers but I have seen evidence of it. So I am assuming yes.

Also, singularities (black holes) are ONE WAY. You are essentially picked up from where you are and placed "somewhere" closer towards the center.

There are some space pirates. I have jumped into multiple systems that have had pirates attacking one of the larger ships floating around out there. I get a distress signal notification on the hud and if you get too close the pirates will attack you too. If they kill you, you will respawn in the nearby space station, but you can go back and get anything that was in your inventory, so theres no real consequences to fighting them, that I have found so far.

Just be careful if you do shoot at the pirates when they are attacking the bigger ships because if you hit a bigger ship they will shoot at you too.

Yea, my actual point was that if I'm going to throw my monthly spending money on a game and not do anything else that month then I just want the game to run well. If it doesn't run well and it is because it's a port and they didn't put any real effort (possibly yet) to making it work then I'm definitely going to wait out and see if they'll get around to fixing that.

Doing a port is more than clicking on the target platform button:
You actually need to make sure it works.

Other people said it has serious optimization issues so I'm going to wait out. Ideally they'll get it fixed and add more content, if it also hits a sale around that time then it will be a no brainer.

If it's already having performance issues it could be that one of the things stopping them besides actually creating all that content - which is a lot of work by the way to create actual detailed towns - is that they need to optimize all of it so that it runs smoothly.
Have to set all the LOD levels, occlusion culling and so on and then you realize that there are things like seeing the entire town at once which renders OC optimization useless and you need to use other tricks.

As is often the case they've went ahead finishing everything that goes into their MVP (minimally viable product) and there is likely a lot more work to be done now with things that weren't included in MVP plan having been neglected to get MVP properly polished.

I don't think I really need to say much more than I'm really really glad I didn't pre-order this. Not saying I won't buy it later at a discount, but it does seem like the kind of game I would get bored with very easily... and therefore not worth (to me) the $60 price of admission.

I have a feeling I will get a lot more "meat" out of the new Deus Ex coming out soon.

I don't think Hello Games deserves the full level of negativity they are getting, but it is clear to me now they were not as forthcoming as they should have been. I've known for awhile that NMS was not going to be multiplayer, but I find it troubling to see so many video interviews with the director being vague on these details.

Maybe they were trying to get it in for release, but ran out of time? Who can say for sure? The complete destruction of their in-house server from flooding might have contributed to this, but if so, what harm would there have been being honest about it?

If No Man's Sky had been released as like a $25 game and early access it would probably have been considered a really good game with alot of potential.

It feels like it was intially intended for a more niche market. Then the press started writing alot about it, Sony started pushing it and the hypetrain turned into a hyperocket heading straight for space. Everyone was saying how this is gonna be one of best game ever and it just pushes Hello Games into a corner where all they can say is "Yeah...". Everything got blown out of proportion and there is not much Hello Games can do other then following along nicely.

I know this game has a lot of detractors, and I can see that. However I am really enjoying this game alot. I curiously found myself doing something that I used to do as a kid. That is sitting at the flight line and watching planes come and go. I think it's still a past time for some. Anyways, I found myself just watching the ships come and go at apparently very busy space station. The ships in this game are soooo fracking cool, many look to have similar chassis but seemingly infinite variations. Just my 2 cents...

So, I found this Korvax (...they are sorta like the Geth...) guy called Nada (and a GEK named Polo) that is hanging out in an "Anonymous Space station" and he likes to give me Black hole locations so I have been "gravity surfing" towards the center. Anyways I came across this cool looking multi-tool.

I know his boisterous format annoys some people, but this is pretty on point. Ouch.

On an unrelated note, I willing to bet Joe is hittin' some of that fine PurrLuna ass (blond swede in some of his recent streams).

I almost got excited about this game but I had a gut feeling.

It also is starting to look like it's not a good idea to pre-order "pig in a bag" unless the devs give you something first such as a demo you can try out.

Star Citizen is nice that way. They had another free weekend to test what's already up and in.

But I still sigh. This *could* have been really awesome.

Tell you what though - seeing as I'm all about Space and open worlds, I'll give this a go when it's on sale and it works well on PC.

Something about my very broken mind likes the sense of being alone sometimes. This is also why I dig E-D sometimes
