We still have a few areas in Orlando that have livestock on them, mainly cows and goats with horses mixed in. It is mostly done to lower taxes on the land. You can sometimes see smaller gators in ponds and on the side of the road where the drainage ditches are. This is normally in the more rural areas. Every time ive been to a disney park and been near the water ways, ive always seen gators. Even inside epcot you see them every now and then. All the water ways are connected so you can get to the major parks by boat and a few of the resorts like fort wilderness.
30 years ago I can remember my grandparents freaking out if I went anywhere near water in Orlando. They had to show me the gators before I finally understood.
Michio Kaku, the long retired rock star of theoretical physics. Being asked an active physicist about what he thought of Kaku the response was that Kaku retired from active research before he even got to the field. Since then Kaku has been mostly busy writing books, educating at City College (New York) and Einstein substitute must have for every imaginable TV show out there. Drawing some parallelism to Tyson, both are regarded in public as the heads of their respective fields yet in reality neither are anywhere near the top scientists or authors in their field. But not being busy with actual scientific research they have all the time to publicize science and trying to carry on Sagan's legacy. Sagan himself had probably 200 pages long resumee due to his involvement in almost every imaginable NASA and Western space program and mission ever and then some. The great thing about science is that even if you were the most prominent researcher in a field you are not an authority in yourself. It only means that you've managed gather some great cases for some theories and so, that you've done excellent science. Beyond that you can worship the Drowned God or whatever and it will be your own free choice and no one is going to stop you. However people outside science often regard popular scientists as authorities of some sort. Lots of text and no jokes? Something's wrong.
