In any event it seems particularly cruel to have a timid character who spent her entire life masquerading as a boy for safety to get that power of all things. Of course she's level 80 now so she could bitch-slap half the continent if it occurred to her to do so. Here's hoping Diablo reminds her of that. Even as fanservicey as this show is, he does have a tendency to empower all the lovestruck girls in his harem.

The entire show is about awkward comedy. Of -course- they'd give this power to a girl who'd be entirely too uncomfortable using it.

Yeah, and you know she'll get her chance to shine sooner or later since it's also that kinda show. Still though, hard not to feel bad for the poor kid even though she's not real.

So the next season of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is evidently just the previous season, except more perverted. I didn't even think that was possible but I guess that's what happens when you put elves and catgirls in the same room.

So there's a new season of Seven Deadly Sins on Netflix. I had marked it as one of their aborted series so it's nice to see they didn't forget about it.

After watching some English dubbed stuff on Netflix I'm remembering why I hate watching dubbed. It's mostly because characters who are mildly annoying in Japanese are turned up to 10 annoying factor in English dubbed. I'm not sure if is just word choice. Or how they say the words.

I think a little from Column A, little from Column B. Dubs are on average getting better, to the point where what used to be extreme outliers like Cowboy Bebop where you actually ought to watch the dub unless you just really like how Japanese sounds are fairly common. But a lot of companies just phone it in for a lot of shows. Crappy translations that either take extreme liberties with the dialog or make no effort to make any sort of sense in English, bad voice acting and bad direction for the voice actors, relying on like five people to voice everything you dub to the point it sticks out like a sore thumb, etc.

Gundam Hathway was pretty good. I don't think you need to have seen zeta or ZZ. Maybe not even the original. Char's counterattck yes. And for that the original (either the series or the truncated movies).

In Finland where *all* childrens shows have been dubbed since forever the dubbing industry has evolved a couple of really good high quality studios of professional dubbers.

In the US I doubt there is much in the way of similar ability to make a steady good income and develop such a professionalism of career dubbers and so with the low amount of dubbed content, desire to keep costs low and the tiny amount of market that dubbing occupies.

There's tons of great voice actors in the States, it's just anime studios don't hire them.

Yeah, it's not a lack of quality, or a lack of quantity, it's a general attitude by companies performing these translations that voice acting is not acting, and anyone can do it. Then you have the one shots, company creates a successful dub, and proceeds to use the exact same formula with absolutely no deviation whatsoever repeatedly in every anime they dub. Pokemon was successful. Dino King less so, along with just about every other anime dubbed by the studio that uses those actors repeatedly. It's a sad day when every show contains Jesse James and Meowth, they sound the same, they act the same, they are the fucking same. These are the same asshats that dubbed Zoids Wild, and completely ruined it. Well, I won't say the writers don't have at least some hand in this, I mean, the voice actors don't usually create additional animation, and the badguys in zoids wild are... odd. I have a number of derogatory terms to describe them, but I'll leave those out of here. Maybe at some point they'll evolve to something interesting, but they're gonna have to flush the team rocket characters before I'll come back to see.

Watchin' The Secret of Kells. It's kinda like if Miyazaki did a story based on Celtic mythology.

Watchin' Saga of Tanya The Evil, which is an isekai about a callous, wicked salaryman who is punished by God by being reborn as a girl in a high-fantasy dieselpunk version of WWI Germany so that he will have to call on Him for help. The rules set are to either repent and become His faithful servant, or die a natural death, or his soul will be banished to hell for eternity. Instead he decides to enlist at a young age, using his knowledge of our world's version of the Great War to become basically worse Hitler and utterly crush the Central Powers and, as Season One ends, the Allied Powers of WWII. And he's ruthlessly good at it.

Shit this week's MHA is good. Just when I was getting bored of not much happening, a demented Endeavor fan shows up outta nowhere, kidnaps his son, Todoroki and Bakugo fly into action to catch the villain and diffuse the hostage situation while Midoriya pulls off both of the One for All quirks he has at once to save the bystanders caught up in the fight. All so fast that they blow straight past Endeavor who was set up as their season goal.
