I don't know how many of you played Civ 5, I have a great love for the game personally. The expansion swiftly approaches us, and I wanted to know if anyone else out there was looking forward to it. One of the things they're bringing back is a religion aspect to the game, which I always found fun in previous games. You can see a 5 minute interview with some of the designers where they discuss the expansion in terms of new features and civilizations on steam if you search for the title.
I play, I've played most of the CIVS starting with the original, but I have to say my fervor for the game has waned in the last couple of years. I didn't play much Civ IV so the religion thing is still fairly new to me though.
I've played all the way through to Civ V. Love the series. Not sure if I will be getting the expansion any time soon what with some other games coming up on the horizon. Will have to keep my eyes on how things release over the next month or so.
Played a lot of Civ III, and Alpha Centuari. Put 60+ hours into Civ V this winter and had a lot of fun with it, but I probably will hold off on the expansion until the price goes down. MW:O is just around the corner!
That right there is probably how I'm going to approch it. I expect that I'll pick it up when it goes on sale or something, but I expect D3 and MWO to keep me busy until then. I -am- pretty excited about it though.
I got Civ V G&Ks and it was exactly what Civ V was missing, Ive played since Civ I came out in 1991 and I dont want to know how many hours I have played in the whole series Religion is nice but not obnoxious like it was in IV Spying is OK not too noticeable only have to deal with it every so often Extra CIVs is nice, bunch of new ones new resources and units; better upgrade paths for units G&Ks is just what I felt CIV V was missing and now I would rate Civ V 95% -5% as the AI is way too aggressive and still dumb, but not enough to ruin playing unless you get a bad start on King or above
You, sir, have given me a sufficient review to make me decide that I will need to pick this up sooner rather than later.
I really wanted to hold off on this expansion....seeing Nightblade's review has done nothing to quell my desire to get it. And with me going back and playing more Civ V again and tomorrow being the 4th......
So I picked up the Gods & Kings expansion Tuesday afternoon and had a chance to put some hours into it Wednesday morning before the day's festivities. I must say that the expansion has a dynamic affect on the game and how it plays. I've noticed that the game's AI is a bit sharper and that progression through the ages for AI rulers is much quicker than it was pre-expansion. I also noticed that religion is more tolerable and you have a hand in shaping the religion as it grows. I've not had a chance to play with espionage yet and still trying to understand some of the newly added features, like embassies and some of the new resources. I was able to put in about 3-4 hours at Prince difficulty so I can't really mention more than previously stated. I will say that Civ V 'feels' more complete now and I have to be more mindful about my research paths as the AI is quick to make use of things and get aggressive/go to war, as Nightblade has mentioned above, which changes how I had been previously playing before the expansion. The additional civilizations are a nice touch as well and really expands the sandbox in terms of how to play the game. Looking forward to putting more time in on this game.
i like the espionage, its so minimal but effective, its a pain in the arse tho when youre ahead tech wise as you wind up getting raped, have to leave a spy in your capital to prevent the science rapage Austria's Diplomatic Marriage ability is way overpowered, as you can buy City-States for 500g if your Allied with them, personally i think the cost should go up because an already started town for 1500-2000g is well worth the cost Germany's AI is nastily aggressive in the beginning, so if you wind up with them as a neighbor on King or above, stock up on troops because their ability to gain troops from barbarians tends to give them a tons of troops in early game still love Religion and all the new units and buildings, and especially playing against new civs my steam id is nightbladexx so look me up if u want to play a multi-player game I easily see CIV 5 G&K's being the Game of the Year, this expansion could have just been called Civ 6 and even I wouldnt have bitched my hints so far are to take Liberty first then Piety for government features, never really used Piety too much before but with the extra gold and happiness you can expand a lot quicker start research pottery so you can get faith points going asap I just wish you could see what other civ's are using for govt choices beat 3 full games on Prince, Kings (which i could beat 90% before G&K) is proving much harder than before, getting ganked early on
