So I think we are agreed on the name being [BORF] Word of Borf, unless we want to try and pursue legal action? Do we know who has the current SoR, BORG and Skjaldborg clans names?

No clue and I see no way to search for a clan if they haven't made a post about themselves on the Crossout forums. I can create the clan tonight unless someone with a higher rank wanted to make it.

Yeah. A little odd that there isn't a way to search for clans. Chances are it could be someone (Not related to our group) who doesn't even play anymore.

Yeah, I agree with Smokey. It seems our options are very limited. BORF/Word of Borf seems like our best option at the moment.

If we can live with the name, I will make the clan tonight.

Eh. It doesn't make you all of a sudden win every battle. To me that would actually be p2w. I mean even if someone got this and ends up high level but they still build a horrible vehicle it won't really help them. Still stupid though.

I think the complaints aren't that it's pay to win necessarily, but that the company said everything you can pay for can be earned in game. Now they say they're releasing a paid item that will shorten the grind with no in game credit version.

That doesn't make a lot of sense (not directed at you Smokey). Items are obtained one of two ways in F2P games: either you grind it out or you pay money. As long as you can do one of these two things, the general consensus is that it's "fair". But the whole point of "boosters" is to reduce the grind. How do you make a booster available for free by grinding for it? That seems to completely miss the whole reason of their purpose.

This just sounds like the wailing of a bunch of tryhards that want to feel special because they put 200+ more hours into the game than me. Fuck that. If you are going to have a competitive game with levels and grind, you need to have a way for people with less time and more money to stay competitive too.

It's fair if people want to spend money to stay competitive with the people who spend tons of time on a game as long as nothing that is bought (with real money) gives an advantage. So yeah I agree It's probably people who don't want to spend money or have spend a ton of time on game complaining.

I get what you're saying Magnus and I don't disagree. Maybe they were hoping for a coin based booster instead of a real money booster? I could see that as a good middle ground if it's actually about the fact that it costs real money. I think you're right though. Sounds like a bunch of vets who are salty that noobs don't have to suffer through as much grind.

The game is p2w enough that I don't really have an issue with this. By p2w i mean yeah, you can pay about 80 bucks and have everything you need to dominate about 90% of the games population. I myself got the 20 dollar pack because it upped my parts count, came with some gear, and a pile of coin. -All- of which put me up on anyone who hasn't done that. Something like this? Just more money for more stuff in my book. I am happy enough where I am in the game that I only have one real thing on my wish list (hover jet thingys). I can grind for those, isn't a big issue to me. The PS system the game has already filters people pretty well for how the game is filtered. Plus even if someone finds a legendary rail gun I cant see the instant they equip it they will be 3000ps past me and out of my brackets.

Also, I agree with Smokey and Magnus. Older players are always the loudest bitchers when it comes to quality of life shit. Its just our version of "I walked up hill both ways to look at a tree that looked like it had one tit. now you got your google."

I hesitate to call Crossout pay-2-win outright (there are far more egregious examples out there), but certainly I have noticed some balancing issues between tech tiers. Thankfully, the issue only seems to creep up when high tier faces off against low tier weapons... and thankfully, it hasn't been that common for me. This reminds me of something related....

As previously mentioned, a lot of these F2P games are competitive and operate around the general business model of (having cool stuff) = (time) or (money). I don't take issue with games that are centered around competitive PvP, but I feel like a lot of these devs are making their jobs harder by creating competitive games that also have design elements that require a lot of grind. It creates a lot of additional variables that are difficult to manage and balance even when the team is talented and resources are there to work on it.

By comparison, take Rocket League for example (is it F2P? I forget). That is "competitive" in the sense that all the gameplay elements are unlocked from the very start. You can't have a truly competive game unless all players stand on equal footing.

Also, think about just how long its been since we've seen a competitive FPS game that allowed all players to have equal access to all equipment right at the start. Devs are so focused on cramming as much grind into PvP F2P games these days they've forgotten how hard it is to keep gameplay balanced. Sometimes I just want to play a game without having to worry about meta bullshit.

Are there any F2P PvP games out there that have everything unlocked at the start? I'm struggling to think of a single one. For me, I think it was Battlefield Vietnam... but that wasn't even F2P... and that was 2004. Fucking rediculous. There are other ways to monetize a game than the "money or grind for progress" business model.

I wish we could build this is Crossout. I haven't tested yet, but from what I've heard the tracks seriously neuter your speed.

As far as I understand it, tracks (along with the hover jets and similar `alternative wheels`) set a cap on the top speed you can achieve
