The one in which a sense of humor is developed apparently. Actually made me laugh.

To bad from what I hear they are making all the same mistakes again by giving bonuses to PS4 version and timed release for non PS4 version.

Destiny 2 as presented by Blizzard Entertainment!

    http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/news/?d=2017-5#181745

Yeah, it's going to be a battle.net exclusive. They did this partnership to decrease the time and effort bungie has to spend on networking by utilizing Blizz's already existing framework. This also opens up HoTS to some Destiny bosses and characters.

Review from a hardcore Destiny fan. It looks like he is not a fan. I am still in the process of watching/listening. It sounds like they have homogenized a lot of the weapons. Where weapons used to roll with random stats, they now have fixed stats. It seems like the problem is that treadmill to keep people going seeking that little bit better variation of a weapon is gone. It sounds like they did this to normalize PvP. It also sounds like they have cut out other things like Heroic/Hard mode instances.

What I am seeing is they tried to make Destiny 2 a little more friendly and less headache for some things. Basically hop in, feel like you got something accomplished and hop out. Honestly I think it sounds perfect for me. But a lot of the hardcore players I think are disappointed that it did not go the other direction.

There shown they're not afraid to change direction based on feedback, so in a year it might be more"hardcore".

Played in limited bursts, I can see some appeal. The same can also be said about Warframe. What turns me off to Destiny has more to do with it's just more of the same... it's more of the same with a premium game pricetag... AND microtransactions. It's a classic example of the exploitative relationship between big-budget FPS games and their publishers. They ask for too much without offering an equal amount in return. It's a big turn off for me. I don't mean to elevate Warframe as a better game (though it has its merits). However, Warframe is definitely a more original idea and it accomplishes an equally serviceable and enjoyable game without the outrageous pricetag. Furthermore, Warframe has enjoyed a long lifespan and has no signs of slowing down. I don't see much evidence the same will be true for Destiny. If I want a fun game to "pick up and play", there is zero incentive for me to abandon Warframe to go play Destiny. Hell, if I want a game that plays similar to Destiny, I can always load up my favorite Halo game.

I don't enjoy Flavors of The Month. Ultimately, I buy games that I expect to still want to play a year or more later. Destiny does not look to be a game with any longevity. I hesitate to say it "sucks" because I have no actual experience with the game, but I know enough to say with certainty that it is definitely not for me.

Here is the thing, what is the comparison to that game? I tried to find something like it. Warframe is the closest thing, and it is not as open world. It is going to get an open world area, yes. Plus, there really is no instant satisfaction with Warframe simply because of the way the loot works. You always have to craft something and wait, which is fine. I think Warframe is a great game, for the very hardcore or those who want to spend a lot of money.

Borderlands too, that is close. I still enjoy borderlands, but the setting is different for Destiny. There really are not many options for looter FPS games that are large scale multiplayer.

Warframe's loot/ crafting grind is incredibally tedious. I would like one that let's me jump in for 30 minutes and feel like I actually accomplished something.

And I don't particularly like the feel of Warframe's gunplay, so there's that, too.

It's not a direct comparison, I agree. Fair point on one being an open world and one being lobby based. I'm only comparing them on the basis that both are games that I would mostly play now in short bursts. Both have a story to tell, but their story is not the main draw. Both have a focus on grinding for loot and both offer micro-transactions to reduce that grind.

Haki may not enjoy Warframe's loot system, but I certainly haven't hated it. It may sound crazy at first, but Warframe has never been terribly grindy for me. I think that has everything to do with how I've spent money on micro-transactions to reduce the more repetitive aspects. I've probably spent over a $100 on Warframe, but that's $100 spread out over more than four years. That's a bargain by Triple-A standards! I usually just focus on completing daily events and leveling the weapons I already have unlocked. I also enjoy the stealth aspects of the game which never gets old for me. The key point is that when I play, my enjoyment comes from the space-ninja action. I don't really concern myself with anything that requires heavy grinding. If I really need something I can't wait for, its usually easier and better use of my time to just throw a little platinum at it. I get paid well enough that its literally cheaper for me to pay for most everything rather than doing the actual leg work myself. That leaves a lot of room for me to relax and just focus on enjoying the gameplay. I traded with players for almost all of my Prime Warframes. I just wait a few months after their release when their player market price drops.

The difference is that Destiny wants to enjoy the benefits of being both a premium game and also exploit micro-transactions to reduce the grind. This latter point is what I take issue with. It's a move that only the Triple-A industry makes and it's an incredibly greedy one. Especially when you consider that (unlike Warframe), the chances of Destiny 2 having a long-term lifespan is exceedingly unlikely. Seriously.. does anyone think that Destiny is going to be relevant in four years? I'm fairly certain Destiny 2 will want you to pay for all of its major updates even with microtransactions before moving on to force you to buy Destiny 3.

I can appreciate your different experiences than my own, but as for me, Destiny doesn't offer me anything compelling that I can't get somewhere else already.

In hindsight, Destiny reminds me in some ways of Tabula Rasa, actually. I played the hell out of that game. It was a 3rd person open world shooter with a lot of RPG elements. Anyone remember it?

Perhaps Destiny does have something I could potentially enjoy, but its hard for me to justify the time and money investment when considering all the factors I listed above.

I am really not sure if there is any transactions that reduce the grind. Those are all just the skins. There is a chance to get some low level stuff, but nothing you would want to get later in the game. Maybe some armor or something to get started, that is really the most grind reducing thing. Plus those are out of loot boxes, so it is not a guarantee. GTA V was far.. far.. FAR worse than anything Destiny is doing as far as premium + microtransactions.
