http://store.steampowered.com/app/310560/ https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/home Anybody playing this? Looks pretty freaking sweet. I got in on Early Access and am ordering a Logitech G27 steering setup. Amazon's got a sale at $225 for Prime members, I'm watching through the day and seeing if they run any lightning sales on top of that as well.
I have not got it yet, but I have thought about it seriously. I love racing games and I have not played recently. It is not off road, but if you like road racing check out Assetto Corsa. It is one of the best racing sims out there.
I used to play racing games a lot on PS but never got into them on PC. Looking forward to getting a driving rig and trying different things out.
played a lot of this series back when it was still colin mcrae's rally racing (had the logitech momo wheel and everything). awesome series as far as racing goes
To note, this is not the Dirt of old. This specific game is a pure simulator. So just be sure you realize that if you pick it up.
Definetly my type of car game then. Sadly i cant play it though as i lack a driving rig and i'm still looking to get rudder pedals for my flight sims. Maybe after that.
I really, REALLY want to play this but I can't get hold of a proper wheel at the moment unfortunately.
Another racing game worth mentioning is RaceRoom. People are saying that its one of the best racings sims but that the way you purchase stuff in it is bad.
I was not impressed with RacRoom to be honest. I much prefer Assetto Corsa. If it was not so damned expensive, I might get into iRacing. I would love to see something with Assetto Corsa's fidelity, physics and graphics with iRacing's online competition.
DiRT Rally is most definitely a sim. If you make mistakes it will punish you. Having said that, it can be so satisfying to make a good run through a stage without pitching your car off the side of a cliff or smashing into a rock or tree. It can take quite a while to get familiar with whichever style car you choose. In Career mode you only have enough money to buy a 60s model FWD but it doesn't take long (one season) before you can step up and purchase a 70s RWD model. Once you start a championship season you are stuck in whichever era of cars you started with, for instance you can't start with a RWD 80s car then switch to a Group A AWD in the middle, but you can change cars within your era. I finished 3rd my first season in a 60s Mini Cooper and I've been running a 70s RWD Fiat 131 Abarth since. The difference in driving style is crazy and it takes practice to get the nuances of how to keep the car on the track and making good time. I have yet to actually win a stage. I've tried some non-career mode runs in the Group B and later AWD cars and again it is totally different from the FWD or RWD. Everything about how you set up your runs changes. The Group B cars are totally insane, it doesn't take long before you see why the FIA banned the group in the late 80s.
Winter tracks? I always love how guys here are buying BMW's and then the winter comes... and they're absolutely fucked!
Not only winter - winter in Monte Carlo! Currently there are only 4 rallies but the Monte Carlo tarmac rally is ice/snow in addition to asphalt on super tight winding mountain roads. Can be very tricky in RWD vehicles. Probably my fave rally so far.
Next week Codemasters is patching in a RallyCross game mode, which looks like it's going to be awesome. I haven't seen yet if it's going to have full multiplayer capability, at first it looks like singe player vs AI only but they will probably add live multiplayer at some point. 2 tracks to start - Holjes (Sweden) and Lydden Hill (Great Britain), no real sign of which cars will be included but I'm guessing we'll see the Ford Fiesta (WRC version already in game) and the VW Polo to start with. If you're not familiar with RallyCross, basically they take rally cars, double the horsepower, and run them 6 at a time on a closed track with both pavement and asphalt sections. http://www.fiaworldrallycross.com/about
Not sure if anybody else is playing this but today's new patch adds in multiplayer for Rallycross along with a new track and 3 new cars. It's pretty damn fun against AI, real people should be a crazy challenge.
So the current codemasters sale made me buy this. I'm looking at a racing wheel now though. Anything you recommend?
