that's actually what i hate about skyrim. I don't want to be dumped in the middle of a world with exactly zero knowledge of how shit works then "figure it out". Same thing with Deliverance. I wanna play a game, not spend 50 hours getting myself in a position to play the game. I fucking hate games where you are dropped onto the map, given no information about anything around you and your on a path. path leads to a cave 40 lvls higher than you. "why didnt you explore first, get to know the world." you mean the world that dropped me on a path. a path to walk on. a path that lead forward. oh wait but thats the wrong path. your path is supposed to turn left at the obscure tree, then down to the river, then turn left at the big rock with the sayter on top of it. ask him to show you his left nut and he will give you directions to the starter town 55 miles away on the other side of the mid Atlantic ridge. fuck games like that.
Some more interesting theories: According to pre-established lore, Vault 76 is a "control" vault; meaning its one of the lucky ones that Vault-Tec didn't fuck with doing some shady experiements. That means its essentially a "clean slate". The new theory is that the fate of 76 is essentially up to the players that occupy it. I'm getting a bit of "Lord of the Flies" vibe now. I wonder if this game will have elements of "We Happy Few", "The Ship", and "Deceit" where a few play as "sabotagers" trying to force everyone to leave the vault and the rest are trying to figure out who is responsible.
Or maybe "Reclamation Day" was the promised day of returning to the surface, but someone miscalculated and Vault 76 opened too early? That would help explain why Vault 76 in the teaser was empty but decorated like some giant party just happened. Everyone had left or was dead.
time wise in lore 76 was supposed to open 20 years after the bombs. the date on the pipboy is -25- years. plus in the vid there is a rusted mininuke so -someone- went outside. I hope we pick the game up at the point wherre the vault peoples feel like they can gain a foothold on the topside. kinda like Vault City in fallout 1/2 (which still exists in 4, it is a major NCR hub and one of the biggest west coast cities). If that is how the games starts I am ok with little story. at that point its just playing Chief Justice in the Dread universe and you "Take the law to the lawless". The golf clubs in the video are new for fallout, could be a super melee heavy game with guns and power armor being stupidly rare. it is just 25 years later and pipe pistols are not a thing, plus a lot of prewar weapons caches are locked for the moment. Most are cracked open in the later 2100s once more people are alive and kicking.
wooohoo! so what i saw we get: small servers we can not select a built in nuke griefing mechanic no option on pve or pvp deathclaws and super mutants (not sure how this works) very few npcs (non enemy) to interact with (just the overseer so far) very limited open beta (game is out in 6 months dont expect changes) "Not every one you meet will be friendly" yeah ive played enough survival games. ill pass on this one.
Fixed that for you. Wonder how mod friendly this one will be... probably not at all unless you pay for it.

Nice 40 minute advertisement to show how they are good hard working people. Totally hate the idea of just popping in and out of random servers. The three card perk system also needs to die from games entirely.
Spend weeks to get some code to destroy a shack that took a few hours to make. Seems like a awesome way to waste your time and money. Since everyone is seen on the map I fully expect this game to be grief mode to the max
