The sea landing attempt for the Falcon 9 rocket. Only for want of a properly locked-in landing leg. SpaceX pretty much nailed the landing otherwise.
well, long as they're using unmanned recovery vessels, and the recovery vessels are cheap enough, they only need a higher than 0% chance of recovery to make it worthwhile. It looked more to me like the leg buckled, however.
I was only a couple of weeks away from being 1. My dad told me how he distinctly remembers it though. They saw it on the tv in the barracks break room. He said everyone was completely stunned. He was heartbroken, because he's a huge Star Trek and sci-fi fan and he loved that stuff.

Just be sure to record yourself screaming and sobbing into the camera pleading for the memory wipe, that way you know not to look at it again after the memory is gone.
