I realized last night that my right mouse button on my G5 is finally starting to die. So, I need to get a new mouse and I cannot decide what I want to get. I have pretty large hands and I use a fingertip grip on the G5. I do not know if It would like an ambidextrous mouse, because I like a nice place to rest my thumb. I am open to any suggestions of experience or just resources, reviews etc. The last ones I was looking at were the Logitech G9x and the Steelseries Sensei Raw. I am going to use this for MWO (of course) but where I had the issue was in Guild wars where I hold the right mouse button to turn. I want at minimum 2 buttons at the thumb, possibly more, but I do think I want as many as like a Naga.
I went from a G5 to a sidewinder then to a 9x, with one of the higher end wireless logitechs (can't remember the name) in there somewhere. The 9x is a good, and natural feeling) upgrade from the G5. I have configured for 4 weapons groups in MWO and it works well, could do 5 but I don't like using the middle mouse button on any mouse for some reason. Also, love the ability to move from quick scroll to normal scroll on logitech mice.
I am using a SteelSeries Sensei and I am very happy with it. I suffer absolutely no gaming fatigue while using it for long periods of time.
I used to use the G700 and loved it, still have it for my laptop, but just went to a cyborg/rat 7 mmo for my gaming computer. Traditionally I used a palm grip and the G700 is great for that but also will do well for claw. The rat/cyborg 7 mmo is kinda weird with how much adjustability it has. I use the highest palm rest all the way back on it and then the thumb shelf and buttons all the way forward with the largest pinkie rest. This sets me up with a hybrid palm and claw grip, its really comfortable and I've not looked back at all for gaming. The only thing I miss is the two stage scroll wheel with free wheeling on the logitec but the sniper button on the mmo to change the sensitivity on the fly makes up for it when trying to line up a gauss shot.
When my G5 died I went to the G500. Same feel as the G50 but it has 10g less weight you can put into it. It took me a few weeks to get used to the difference of weight but once I did it was back to fantastic tracking and gaming. Love the Logitech G-series mice.
I have heard some people having issues with the build quality of the RAT mice, have you had any issues? How long have you had it?
48hours so far with about 18 hours of mwo in that. Suddenly I think I need a life, anyway, I can see how the construction could be a problem, its not something that you can just toss in your bag and take on the road without risking breaking something. Granted my g700 was replaced with this mouse when it was crushed on the scroll wheel in a bag and the scroll wheel down and side to side buttons started messing up. I don't mean all that to say its a fragile mouse but it has a lot of thin parts that while perfectly fine for daily use as intended might not be the best for someone that needs a portable mouse.
I think I am leaning towards the G700, I have seen a lot of good things about it and it can run wired in case it dies.
I've been extremely happy with my Razer mice. I use a Molten for MWO, which has 12 thumb buttons on the side. my weapons groups are: 1:1 2:2 3: #12 4: #11 5: #10 Teamspeak: #9
I do not think I would like having that many buttons right next to each other. Especially when I do not need that many buttons.

I have a prime account with Amazon, so I get free shipping. I pretty much order everything from Amazon.
I love my G700. I don't even have to bother switching weapon groups in game because I can have everything mapped to the side buttons.
I'm using a G500 and it works great. I really haven't hit a situation where I need more than 5 weapons groups, and probably never will.
I went from a G5 to a G500, the switch was pretty seemless imo. There are a few extra buttons on the G500, but not enough that it feels foreign. I actually use the G5 when I am on the road with my gaming laptop and don't have any hiccups as far as re-settling into a different mouse. If you want to keep things the same as possible, I would go for a G500, if you want to move forward go G700
