So after a long day of number crunching and sifting through the Aerotech 2 handbook (with some assistance from the 3057 TRO), I have created a customized dropship. It's actually just your ordinary Leopard, with some weapons adjusted and some updates made (like sum mudderfuggin Double Heat Sinks ) For some reason, I can't fit the 2nd aerospace fighter bay (150 tons) and the only significant weight addition I had was the upgrading of the Crew quarters from "Steerage" to "2nd Class" (15 tons at most...), so yeah. So without further ado, Leopard Class Dropship Mass: 1720 tons Movement: 4/6 Structural Integrity: 7 Fuel: 125 tons Heat Sinks: 50 (100) Armor (31.5 tons Ferro-Aluminum) NOS 160 LWG 145 RWG 145 AFT 114 Mech Bays (4) Aerospace Hangar (1) Escape Pod (2) Cargo (30 tons) Armament*: 6 ER Large Lasers 8 Large Pulse Lasers Personnel: 2 Officers 6 Crewmen 4 Mech Pilots 1 Aerospace Pilot 5 Support (or more if necessary) *Yes, I like lasers. If you have a problem with it, make your own design!
Wait, dropships have fuel? I thought they were fusion powered like everything else. Also, 2nd-Class? Your crew is going to get all uppity and high and mighty now. You need them living in Steerage to keep them in their place. War ain't no luxury cruise man! Plus, if they aren't living on top of each other, the incidents of sexual molestation drop. What fun is that?
Aerospace, dropship, small craft, and warship all have fuel. I think jumpships do as well for station-keeping thrusters. Dropships and warship construction is VERY involved and complicated.
Shows how much attention I pay besides looking at the pictures and either calling them fugly or purty.
The ship's crew already had 2nd Class accomodations. The quarters I was upgrading was for me. Also, we can convert the cargo space into Steerage.
Soooo, how many leoperds are we going to need to drop all 130 or so mechs into action, 33 at least? Looks like its time to invest in a few Overlords.
130 mechs require: 4 Overlords 11 Unions 33 Leopards That is with no spare mechs, even then we are close to needing a 5th Overlord. Eventually we are going to account for every canon mech pilot in the FRR if we keep growing like this.
It's already been made. I think Chris or Skwi has the link. Though it can't quite carry a regiment, per se...
What the hell art are you looking at? A giant metal egg maybe, but I don't see a dildo silhouette at all...
That doesn't account for support, dependants, or hell, it assumes we're ONLY a mech regiment. We'd have air and ground assets as well that need dropships and jumpships. On top of that, for tactical purposes and efficiency, we wouldn't want, say, JUST Overlords. There'd be uses for having a mixed fleet and including some smaller ships. Oh you silly innocent youth. It certainly looks like a sex toy, but "dildo" is not the word for it.
