We can always have 1 of our jumps go wrong and we end up in some unihabited system way off the beaten path. And what do you know its the system Comstar hide the part of the SLDF fleet that was mothballed. Or find derelict ship that was abandoned by Kerensky when they were leaving the IS. Many many ways to BS a way into having our own warship. Being able to keep it once major house finds whole other story.
Given our fairly decent working relationship with comstar/pgi we could have been bought off after a miss jump in the 3030's or later. Say a concerned comstar Anastasius Focht wanting an ace in the hole against Myndo Waterly should the need arise. In the year or so prior to the current time in MWO it could be written off as an extra buffer against the clans coming. but really what are you talking about these silly house things? there is only the 'borg!!
Will have to post my "Mischief Maker" later. It's a militarized and heavily modified Buccaneer, although currently I only have it fitted with 3025 tech (strictly a custom design; only one in existance). I chose the aerodyne specifically because it is widely known as a civilian transport. No one would suspect it can dish out death and destruction to targets many times its own size; it is only 30% the mass of an Overlord, but packs roughly the same amount of armor and firepower. Also, the bitch be fast; twice as fast in fact (fast enough to rival many aerospace fighters). It has an improved cargo capacity over the Leopard and still retains all the superior amenities of the original Buccaneer; perfect for long trips, blockade running, and operations in hostile territory. It is an evil little ship. Also, it looks cool. I also have a Triumph built around the same concept but the first is my personal favorite.
