Nice. I got out in July 06. I miss that area. I've been wanting to take my wife and son out to Boise one winter. Go ski Bogus or Tamarack again.
o7 To you all. I spent my days 16 years as a Paramedic on the front lines of the east side ghetto of Indianapolis. I know its not the same but I still salute you.
Roger. United States Marine Corps just about 6 months MAGTF Planning Specialist Haven't received my permanent duty station yet. But I've been to Parris Island SC (Boot Camp), Camp Geiger NC (Marine Combat Taining), and am currently at Little Creek VA for MAGTF Planner Basic school.
United States Air Force 15 July 1991 - 28 October 1998 7 years, 3 months, 13 days Airborne Russian Linguist Presidio of Monterey (DLI) California, Goodfellow AFB Texas, Lindsey Air Station Germany, Langley AFB Virginia, Dhahran Saudi Arabia, Kadena AFB Okinawa Japan. Honorable discharge before I was ready due to a spouse that took the money deposited into my account to pay off my duty related travel expenses and went partying with a Marine Corps boyfriend while I was TDY (to the sum of over $8000 that I had to pay back on top of my re-enlistment bonus of another $8000).
I don't know if you hold anything against that Marine. But you could have really burned his ass if you wanted to. Adultery is taken pretty seriously, as is anything that makes The Corps look bad.
Appreciated all. I don't hold it against Marines. I hold it against my ex-wife. However, he was booted shortly after the incident with a dishonorable discharge. My reason for leaving was that I couldn't pay back the money that was put into my account. That money was my responsibility even though I didn't misuse it. I was told that I would be held accountable as the service member. Because it was a financial issue with the military, they temporarily pulled my security clearance till the issue could be resolved. No security clearance in my career field means I was useless. As such, once it was clear I couldn't magically produce $8k, they opted to release me from my enlistment and demanded I pay back my reenlistment bonus. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper and the divorce happened shortly after all of this.
Wow... so many of you have been where I live... Oceana NAS, Little Creek, Langley AFB, Norfolk Naval.. all within a 30 min drive from my house. Thank you guys again for your sacrifice.
For all who serve, my respect. For those who didn't get to serve as long as you wanted, my condolences. For those who use acronyms, you have my wtf. I work for a giant corporation involved in the military industrial complex. I get enough acronym soup on a daily basis
