Despite knowing better I changed 2 thinks at once in my "fix the problem" quest. Its either the bluetooth hardware (now disabled) or a poorly seated RAM card.

So far so good after 15+ warm and cold reboots and 10 or so hours of sitting at idle in screens saver mode with no crashes, blue screens, freezing. or intermittent double post on boot.

Good grief that thing is a monster!

I'm getting components gathered up for my new one:
    Core i5 2500 3.3GHz
    8GB Corsair Vengeance
    Ultra 550W PSU
    Windows 7 Pro x64
    ASRock Fatal1ty series MoBo
HIS IceQ Radeon HD 6870 GPU

Not a screamer but should be a decent rig for not a lot of money.

Right now I'm rolling Core 2 duo with 4gb ram and a GeForce 9600GT. Yeah, it wasn't great even when i built it but now it's pretty well obsolete.

Discussing a new build with a friend myself. It's based off of the build you did, Chris, but with the GeForce GTX 580 replaced by two GeForce GTX 560 Ti's and only 8 Gb of RAM instead of 16. I might ask for some help since this will be my first actual build as opposed to the minor upgrading/case transfer I've done in the past.

I almost went with 2x 560 Ti in SLi as well. I still wonder if it would have been just as happy and spent less $$$. I also suffer from the "If I do something it has to be the best, or over the top" disease, sooo..

For the RAM, I got such a good deal from a sale at the time, it was so cheap to go 16g it wasnt even a question. Keep an eye out for sales on RAM :)

Also, lemme know if you have any questions and I will be glad to help

Yeah, we got our 16 gigs for like $99, crazy cheap.

I went with the 560 TI, left room to pop in a second one, which I may end up doing towards launch of MWO, and pick up a third monitor (if they have 3 monitor support).

Gah, I really shouldn't have went with buying the parts individually instead of all at once. Now I have my motherboard, RAM, and cooling unit sitting there and I want to build it.

I did the same thing, at first I was going to space it out over a few weeks but then I got excited and just credit carded all the parts.

This is the reason I got a credit card with a low limit. I can pay it off within a week and it helps build my credit, not destroy it lol.

Good call, a lot of people just run that shit up, miss one payment, and then the next few years is a horror show of 30% interest rates and tears.

Trust me, I've seen it too. And besides, I just filed my taxes and since I'm single with no kids, my return will cover the rest of the build.

    Yay for being...single... :sorrow:
