So looks like Lynx is really screwed against anything bigger, doesn't have firepower to fight against the bigger guys unless the other side is horrible. If you're just starting out try to get one on ones or more with just lynx', it'll make it a lot more enjoyable. Also, when firing, (this is just noob tips), click right mouse button first to go aim mode. You'll get a red bar, thats the elevation of your guns (NOT WHERE ITS HITTING). Hit space to fire one gun to gauge your range on target, then hit left mouse to fire rest of your guns. Q/E and Z/C move your sails like Manco said, it'll go automatic if you don't touch them, but for the early ships, one tip to keep in mind is to try to keep your sails at about 90 degrees to the wind direction, that makes them get optimum speed. I find my gameplay in the lynx is basically weaving between the two best angles to get the wind, going upwind is pretty impossible in the small ship. Also, anyone know how speed/sails affect turning? I pretty much just have full sails at all times, other than slowing down, any reason not to?
The Lynx, while underwhelming, is the fastest boat in game. This means, like the Cutter, it's also good at sailing Close-hauled (near the wind) and it the only ship that can approach a larger vessel from Broad Reach to rake her stern and likely sail away (or come about for another pass) before the big square-rigger can respond. Alone it's not a threat at all - 2 or 3 together, however, change the dynamic. Myself and Aspius found ourselves working together quite well - I'd wear down a target at range with normal 6pdrs, and he'd get close with 12pdr Carronades and double-shot. The Carronades are utterly lethal. There's talk about them changing them so they work more like real-world Carronades, but they'll still be lethal up close. As for speed - try using Battle sails (press B) as it makes your sails more resistant to damage and slows you down, reduces heel and makes convergence a bit quicker.
So i am wondering what we The Borg are going today in this game faction wise and what role. Now i am up for pretty much anything but i like to state it here right now. I will not play as French in all honesty it will feel like high treason to me, I cannot bring myself to it. Quite simply the french are my ancestral enemy. I am thinking the Dutch might be a cool faction to align to.
Today's patch Hello Captains. As you may have noticed servers are stopped as we are planning to deploy the patch fixing the problems in the current build. Originally presented systems were made in the spirit of the age of sail for captains with honor and ethics. Some captains started to abuse it treating it as a game not a testing environment. We at game-labs have zero tolerance to exploits especially during alpha. PVP rooms will be disabled temporarily while we fix the balancer. Other changes will be implemented. Timer changes - there will be no more resets in the timer. This feature was very useful when there were not many players testing and people needed to get back into lobby and change the ship. With many players this feature becomes a hassle. Balancer changes - the ability to switch sides will go away, ships will be balanced automatically to provide challenge. Battle requirements changes - kills and damage will be added to the requirements. Captains won't be able to progress doing nothing (leeching). Battle flow changes - During battle we will implement an elegant solution that will force captains to accept combat. No longer players will be able to run away from combat, if they try they will face the fate of Admiral Bing. On stat padding Stat padding is counter productive - goal for the alpha is to test ships in combat. Avoiding combat does not help us improve the game - those who avoid combat should wait for the full game to participate in exciting wool trading. Stat padders progress will be wiped. If we won't find the method to wipe them.. we will reset all progress. So all the guys who was stat padding will get the progress wiped lol
They're far from final in terms of defining which nations are in. So far, as definite: Britain, France, Spain, America and Holland. There's a minor debate as to how many more nations should be allowed. Right now it's between Sweden and Russia as a 6th nation (or perhaps both). On the flip-side, I'm descended from the French Huguenots and the Dutch Settlers. There's no way in Hell I'm playing Britain. Though I think it's not going to be such a big thing to be honest - if you want to play Britain, go for it. Most Borfians are American, so I suspect we'll have many in the American faction, while myself and Aspius will likely be the only Frogs (unless they bring in Sweden, in which case, I'll be forever alone). Which is perfectly fine. As with our other non-primary games, being in different societies/fleets/whatever is perfectly okay. We are the gaming equivalent of Mercenaries after all
I cant believe you kill, after all this time I never knew. Your insidiousness has finally been revealed. Your a fracking frog. It was cool when you were a dutch bag by relation, and down there where barbeque was a way of life. But now, I don't even know you. DIE FROG! *some one whispers to me* Wait, what? .... They helped with what? .... Oh right, that battle. I guess you can live then. This time.
Ignoring the relevant facts in that segment I shall come to the important part of your post, How dare you put BBQ meat on a Baguette?!?! We all know it properly needs to be consumed with the hands and with a tankard of mead to wash it down.
Bread is handy for sopping up juices from the Meat, as well as soaking up spilled Mead so that Consumption can still occur. The Meat does not have to be served on bread, but bread is a welcome addition to the Consumption.
