Really nice fan made video describing what Navel action is and the hope and ambitions of the Dev team.
Patch ! The goal of this patch is to improve balancer and battle creation, and to increase comfort of gameplay, that was not considered before with smaller number of testers. Important Changes PvP is back with improved balancer. Every ship has a battle rating now, which is used to balance the battles. All players entering PvP room are collected on one side of the balancer and sides are determined automatically. Players wont be able to exit the balancer if there are more than 1 player in the room. Timers cannot be reset. Ship unlocks received a soft wipe. To move to the next ship you now have to deal damage. Win requirement is gone until further notice. You might get a better or worse ship depending on the damage you dealt last week. To fix running in battles we have implemented a temporary mechanic similar to Battle Royale from ARMA 3. We have added a battle zone into PVP battles - this zone gets smaller as the battle progresses. If you leave this zone you will receive 2 min warning to return. If you don't return in 2 mins your ship will be destroyed. The zone is visually ON on default for all players - you can switch it off by pressing N Wind change implemented for more comfortable gameplay. Once every N minutes wind changes direction. Other changes Timers are fixed and no longer reset. Structural leaks that you get if you broadsides are destroyed are increased Number of bots in PVE is reduced Improved wind angles for for-and-aft rigs Changes to wind angles for Trincomalee and Constitution will come monday (did not finish tuning yet) Yacht and Cutter speed is increased Lynx speed is somewhat reduced Developer messaging system implemented to send messages to ALL players in lobby and battles New bugs and problems introduced
I got my invite! And I can sink in under 2min because I get hit by 4 line ships in a 3 person match where the biggest thing is a snow. yay!
If you're on over the weekend, let me know and we can sail together and dodge flying iron. I will sail my Yacht as I find it more pleasurable than both the Lynx and Cutter, even though you'll have to sail both to advance.
They work fabulously, btw - up close they really rip shit up. Also, Carronades are much better now - and very useful in a storm.
Played again this morning, me in a lynx, 2 others in cutters, vs 3 Brigs with carronades. We all died in the first salvo. fml
With the Lynx you can get into the slip of a brig, He cannot broadside you, Once in his slip switch to sailing mode and make left/right turns broad siding his rear.
Lynx and Cutter can do decently against a Brig, but not multiple, you just have to try to not get into a close range broadside... They have light PVP and 'normal' pvp now, the light one will just allow smaller ships, I'm actually enjoying the Cutter a bit now even though its not REALLY any better than a lynx aside from an extra gun or two on each side. Almost at the Brig, 1000 damage. Haven't had too much time to play, unfortunately the Steam login service is down right now and I can't play. I did get a 2500 damage game in a Cutter recently, that was fun.
I've got up to the Trincomalee, but since the Snow was brought in, I've been demoted. I just haven't had the time. Still, the Snow's quite nice - slow after the last patch, but nimble as fuck, and can switch broadsides well before reloads. Also, Santassima Trinidad is in - 140 guns... sends shivers down me spine - fortunately, like the real one, she's a little slower than a pregnant Yak and turn just a tad quicker than the Nasca-lines.
yea I'm on the snow now, really enjoying the 4 long cannons. Good range and fast reload. Going to try a carronade version soon for rear taking.
