not really sure that's true, millions of people invested their time in money in it because it was a good story, that doesn't make them lose rights to it, otherwise everyone who buys a book theoretically should have rights to the story therein, which is certainly not how that works.

Yes! That was the one I was thinking of. Move MNC than TF2 in my opinion as well.

Hey, Debbie Downer...is this a surprise to you or something? The cinematic team and the dev team worked hand in hand during the entire process to get a consistent look. Check out the page comparing the two. I think they did a fantastic job. In some cases, such as with TRACER I think the game version is actually better.

Sheep. I hear your argument. All the time. And yes, it's COMPLETELY subjection and of one's own personal opinion. To which I completely disagree. Which is like, just my opinion, dude.

But I challenge you to show me an FPS game/MMO whatever that goes for photorealism that doesn't smack right into the uncanny valley. I hated it back in the late 80's early 90'2 where RMV was the trend in games. Blech. I like computer games that actually look like games. Even today, World of Warcraft still holds up and provides a greater suspension of disbelief graphically. Even though "cartoony" the characters look like they are actually *in* the environment instead of just being a model standing ON TOP of a graphically rendered scene.

Things are getting better, but I have an easier time mentally sliding into a well generated, though stylized game than one that poorly attempts to look *real*. Arma is getting better. Star Citizen is looking good as well, but when a majority of your game play is vehicle based, it comes easier. Actually, the current release of Race Car Sims does photo realism better than anything else out there. But again, this is a vehicle and environment, not a character.

    /cheers

Legally, yes. Emotionally, no. Hell, even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle "resurected" Sherlock Holmes (kinda, they were "older stories") because his public demanded it.

There's simply no reason it couldn't look just like it though, or it have been actual in game assets. Blizzard really hasn't pushed the limits in anything in a long time. So many things borrowed from there other games as well.

true, but that was still -his- choice to make, influenced by the demand of his readers, authors/writers/directors are still people and as such are not immune to peer pressure XD

Uh, yeah. That is actually their defacto operating procedure. And it's been, oh, slightly successful for them.

With wow bleeding players by the thousands because they keep dumbing down the game. Then they preview another game that looks like it is for dumbed down casual play. It seems as if blizzard isn't interested in the hardcore demographic anymore. Only the insane can play Diablo over and over in hardcore. They are only making casual shovel ware these days. Blizzard is just a shell of its former self. Blizzard needs to pull there head out of there ass if they want to get back into the game... Pun intended.

    U mad bro?

Dumbed down? Shovelware? Casual play? Shell of their former self? Hyperbole much?

I don't know why people used the phrase "dumbed down" just because a game doesn't fit into the narrow expectations of the competitive gaming elite. You think Star Craft 2 is dumbed down? Heh. Play it online and try to NOT have your ass handed to you. Is Team Fortress 2 dumbed down? I wouldn't know. I get my ass handed to me and STILL have fun. This reeks of #gamergate mentality. The lowbrow kind. As in...you don't make the games the way I like them so you SUCK and are abandoning your core customers. Sorry to burst anyone's mental bubble, but CORE customers are now the traditionally NON-gamer type. You think most of the 12 Million people that played World of Warcraft were HARDCORE? There aren't that many hardcore RPG players out there. The success come from appealing to a wider audience. Does it make it better? No. Does it make it worse? Absolutely not.

It just makes it more successful. Are indie films better than blockbusters? Well, that depends. Jaws is a blockbuster. Guardians of the Galaxy is a blockbuster. A Room with a View...is not. Does this make one better than the other? No. Transformers: The Need for Cash was also a blockbuster, financially. But, it was also a steaming pile. Basically movie shovel-ware.

    But Shovelware from Blizzard?

Not even close. Well, let me step back. If you really define what shovel ware is it's when crap developers, like Zygna, take somone else's idea and make a piss-poor clone (or even blatant rip-off) to make fast cash. Rinse and repeat as-naseum. Please name a single Blizzard game that fits into this category. Yes, it's well known they don't create unique game types/genres. But, when they find a game type they like, they emulate the idea, blend in their own IP and expand, polish and perfect it.

I've liked Blizzard for years, I loved their humor and their stories, and yes, I feel that they've ruined WoW for me, I don't particularly care if the game is still successful or if fiscally it was a good decision, I care that I don't like to play the game anymore. I don't particularly care for this type of game, but it looks like it could be fun, I'm sure overall it'll be an interesting new thing and I doubt Blizzard will do a bad job at it, even if they're not quite the same company they were when they came out with Warcraft. I can be mad at the direction Blizzard has gone without forsaking them entirely, but I still probably wouldn't like this game, not because it's doomed to be bad, but because I just don't particularly care for this style of game.

Firstly I didn't mention star craft because that's the only game that requires a bit of skill/knowledge to play. Yes WoW has been dumbed down a lot. I know quite a few players that are extremely pissed off that blizzard keeps taking away skills and cooldowns that make the classes unique. When you go from having multiple skills and cooldowns to balance out when you are on a boss to now that almost resembles vanilla wow in style of just smashing head against keyboard. That's dumbing down of gameplay. Yes wow has lost lots of hardcore players I know because of the guilds that no long exist and the players in them. They may have gained a bit of casuals because of how easy the game is now but thats just it, because its easier to play. There are a lot of gamers out there that want games that are challenging in skill and gameplay. But wow it's just not doing it anymore. Tab targeting is also a thing in mmo games that requires no skill these days with most mmo games going action combat based.

I love me some TF2 and the classes in this game look really interesting. Definitely see some parallels. There's the sniper, the scout, the medic, the engineer but like more of them and more varied. Zenyatta especially looks interesting.

As long as they take another hint from TF2 and make all classes and weapons/equipment attainable without money, I can see this being an awesome game.

    Also hats.
