Got another legendary. Doesn't look terrible, but it's also for Kapkan and Tchanka (who I never use).

A pretty fucking dramatic Lion nerf is live on the test server. Can't say we didn't see this coming with a 100% pick rate in pro league at present.

And we all thought that Ela got rekt.

Well, Lion, it was nice knowing you.

After 3 years we are still playing this game 6 nights a week, it absolutely blows my mind how well the development team has done in keeping things exciting. I checked the steam analytics last night and currently on PC there over 114k players a day at peak and averaging over 74k , and those are just the ones that are running it through steam and not counting any of the PS4 or Xbox players. Every month the active player base continues to grow which is the really amazing part when compared to other games. To put it all into perspective if you took the total player base for MWO, Elite Dangerous, Crossout, Avorion, and Ark, combined all of them, you still would not match the PC player base for Siege.

With players in our group ranging in experience and ability from brand new to high platinum, there is always room for more and for learning new skills and tricks. If you are in anyway interested in it you owe it to yourself to try it out as it is proven to be larger and better lasting than any other single game (and most all others combined) that we are involved in. The only other one that comes close is Warframe with two thirds the numbers and the longevity.

Yep. Shotguns would be really scary if they used their actual range. Mossberg 500 series (which many games have a at least version) has an effective range of 130 feet (40 meters, 2+ Atlai head to toe.) And maximum range of 160 feet (49 meters) and that's the range for shot. For solid slug it is 980 feet (300 meters)

most weapons have stunted range in video games, mostly it's because of the hero syndrome, people don't want to play a game where they shoot like they would in the real world, they want to be the hero, in come the hud displays, aim assists and hit scan and now you've got something people will have fun with. Of course, a fully automatic M-60 machine gun that is also hit-scan kinda becomes a big old murder mower so they combat that with reduced effective ranges and good old RNG in the form of simulated recoil which can in most circumstances be entirely negated.

By that logic the implication is that the "hero syndrome" is the reason that shotguns in video games are ineffective beyond 20 ft? Not sure that tracks at all.

On a more direct rainbow 6 related note... Operation Para Bellum is set to release around June 6. Maestro and Alibi will be our two new operators. They're both set to be defenders, and quite a bit of info has been leaked so far. Alibi is said to deploy a hologram that will tag the enemies for a short period of time that shoot at it, and Maestro is rumored to have a remote activated auto turret he can man through his phone.

Fittingly, this Italian operation will drop a Tuscan-themed map called Villa. It looks to have fewer external entry points but a lot of internal destruction opportunities to breach floors and walls.

Following the trend of other AAA publishers and PR disasters. Ubisoft have to make their own aswell and this involves Rainbow Six: Siege. Ubisoft have decided that they want to release Siege in China but because China have extreme censorship laws, they need to censor alot of things. Blood is removed, knives, skull imagery, and slot machines are some of the things that will disappear. Normally, this wouldn't be a very big deal because they would release different versions of the game in different regions with different censorship laws. However, Ubisoft have made it clear they want "One Global Build" which means that these censorship changes will apply to everyone. This have made people angry because it's ridiculous that the global gaming experience should be changed because of one country. Another worry that people have is that the chinese will be able to play on another region then their own and let's just say that the chinese have a reputation of cheating because of internet cafes that allow it.

As i was writing this i found information that the chinese edition will be a seperate build and have it's own servers that won't crossover to the regular ones already used in east asia. The censorship changes will still apply to everyone.

Here are some examples of the changes they are making posted in the official blog. https://rainbow6.ubisoft.com/siege/en-us/news/152-337194-16/aesthetic-changes-in-y3s4

Rainbow 6 Siege (standard edition) is on sale for $10 on Uplay right now as a part of their Lunar New Year sale. As always, if you have an interest in this sort of game, I am always looking for people to play with.
