A heads up for all members, and prospective members. We will be doing another recruitment freeze at the end of January. At this time, all applications will be put on hold, and a review of our memberbase will occur. We will sort through those members who are doing the bare minimum to stay off our Inactive radar, yet not actually part of the unit, and will be purging them. This will be an opportunity and time to get as many people as possible off of our Unassigned list and over in to actual Lances, and get people positioned correctly for their responsibilities and willingness to work.
Was wondering when this would happen again. So many new faces around its hard to remember who's who sometimes. Be nice to take it easy for a while and get the know the latest batch of peeps. disclaimer: I have nothing against peeps, and anyone insisting I do will get a very legal sounding wall of text that will accomplish nothing but make me feel better and waste your time while you try to figure out wth I'm talking about.
Can just see all the LT's arms in arms mead in hands singing: "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"
Ugh. Looking over the roster today - while we're approaching Brigade strength on paper, we essentially have just three Square Battalions and a Company of Reserve, plus a Regiment of Unassigned and AWOL/Inactive players. Jeez, I think I'd decided where I was going within a week of joining the 'borg...
I am still very new, but have been putting some time in playing MWO. I am limited to playing games only at weekends at the moment as I am working away but hoping to start a new job from home in the medium term future. I am not sure about how to join a regiment, nor do I understand the idea of lances. I am keen to play and use the team speak but I am not certain I would be classed as being active enough at present? Are you thinking of culling only inactive players or occassional ones also? Thanks. Ollie
Most of the 'borg have full-time jobs and families, Ollie, so you won't get flack for only having gaming time on weekends. Definition of "bare minimum" would be someone who only logs into this website once every couple of months and hasn't discussed their need to take an absence with the higher-ups. As for Companies, Regiments, and Lances, they are based on BT lore: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Regiment#Unit_Organization Within the Skjaldborg, the different Regiments add a little bit of flavor to our unit's history, and the lance/company/battalion/regiemnt structure also aids in administering the unit (So Dihm, Chris, and Skwi don't have to try and keep track of all of us all the time!) and in the future we hope to be able to integrate it into Community Warfare, when that Pillar is integrated into MWO. As for finding one, look around, see who's operating in similar time schedules to you, read up a little about what the units are about, etc., and talk to the lance leader or company Lojtnant about joining up. Or post that you're looking for a lance, and see who's looking for pilots.
