Still waiting for my Planetside 2 / War for Cybertron crossover. Also, I would play the shit out of that Start Wars game.
Dunno. I mean, the headset is awesome and all but they cost 600-1000$ and the resolution is crap. Text has to have cat sized font to be readable. Also, Elite already offers full support for VR headsets. I mean full. Except for the cat sized fonts - it's like trying to read a book through the microwave radiation shield on the door; keep jerking your head sideways and you can sorta make out fuzzy letters if you concentrate. What I'm saying is that it can be just a great remake of either of those light sims with full support for VR. It won't make millions people buy the headsets because frankly it's not worth that much money for most people unless you just happen to have a thousand bucks that you don't know what to do with. I mean I could buy it but I'm rather buying other stuff since my pockets are limited. I'm still sort of waiting to have more money / buy things with better price value that I don't yet have until eventually their prices come down / their quality goes up / I've already bought the three things that have a better price value. The three things that have better price value in no specific order: bogu (armor set for kendo), full PC hardware upgrade, two new monitors to replace my current 8 years old as it broke down and I'm borrowing my daughter's TV for my PC. If I were you and I had a thousand bucks - I'd march right up the online store and get a headset and controllers like yesterday. Being me, I'll do those other things first. Headsets aren't going anywhere. I can still get them in 1-2 years.
I'm not going to bother wasting my time to argue the point with you, the reality is that the level of immersion found in the first generation consumer vr devices is quite amazing when you really stop to think about it. If you want to make wild exaggerations for the ability to read text that's up to you, but those of us with the headsets that use them to read text and gauges can testify that, while it might not be perfect when compared to a 1080p monitor, its quite workable and the presence in game more than makes up for the lower resolution. Also the CV1 is much better for it than the Vive, if you have only used a Vive or a DK1/2 I can see how you might have had issues with text. For me, I'm retiring my triple 27in setup for a single 34in ultra wide for productivity and to use with the few games that I still play that aren't vr supported. VR is just that good.
text is easily readable in my CV1. resolution is great, and they've eliminated the "judder" and the "screen door" problems that the DK2 had. The headset is appreciably lighter than the DK2, so no real neck strain issues either. I've been able to play comfortably for basically the same amount of time I would play a game normally.
I like the idea of expanding genres within the star wars universe. How about a thriller/murder mystery/police procedural next? That'd be pretty rad I think. Coruscant Confidential
nah. actually the only thing I really hate about disney is the lucas arts part being shut down instead of reinvigorated and them giving the games to EA. because fuck EA.
Thanks MostlyHarmless. Now I really need to test CV1! Indeed I was extremely pleased with DK2 already except for the text thing - considering if it's been improved that changes things. Oh and I hope no one died or suffered horrible diseases from something like 3 posts being off the topic. Heaven forbid that anyone's ever made an OT comment on the forums during it's history.
Between derailing this thread further by starting a spinoff discussion on dildo preferences I'll instead against my better judgment stay on topic and drop this quote from Quora here: Is the new Rogue One movie technically a prequel? Eric Lowe, Star Wars scholar and Historical European Martial Arts instructor 334 Views · Most Viewed Writer in Star Wars (creative franchise) with 150+ answers In the sense that its story precedes that of a previous work, by focusing on events that occur before the original narrative, yes, Rogue One is a prequel (to Episode IV). And of course the original idea behind Rogue One was, “What is the story of the ‘Rebel spies’ that somehow got Princess Leia that Death Star plans?” so it’s a prequel in that sense, too.[1] On the other hand, “prequels” per se also often develop, riff on, or expand themes and characters from the movies they are prequels to. In this sense, I expect Episodes I-III to be truer prequels to Episodes IV-IX than Rogue One, or any of the so-called “anthology” movies. In Episodes I-III we find out that the Jedi were not the good guys, that the Clone Wars were not fought against rebellious bio-engineered soldiers (which, for anybody who grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, was the obvious thing to assume), that the Emperor didn’t take over the Republic but was basically elected, and that the Empire’s monolithic nationalization of things was actually a reaction to the fact that the Old Republic was aBlade Runner-style dystopia run by evil mega-corporations. Episodes IV-VI are about how love can overcome evil; Episodes I-III are about how love can engender evil. Even the composition of shots in I-III deliberately echoes the composition of shots in IV-VI. That’s a prequel. I don’t expect Rogue One to be a prequel in that sense. I’ll be very surprised if this is a movie that compositionally or thematically ties into Episodes IV-VI. I’ll be surprised ifRogue One ties into The Further Adventures of the Skywalker-Solo Clan (so no, I don’t expect it to say anything about who Snoke is, or who Rey’s parents are). I don’t expect it to present any great insights about the nature of the Force, or what it means to be a Jedi. Which I think is great. I want to see The Further Adventures of the Skywalker-Solo Clan, and learn more about the Force, and what it means to be a Jedi, but I don’t want that to be all that Star Wars is. That’s one of the reasons I’m so happy that they’re making a distinction between the “Saga” movies and the “Anthology” movies. [1] Evidently they decided this wasn’t it. And much as I loved Dark Forces, I do not blame them. https://www.quora.com/Is-the-new-Rogue-One-movie-technically-a-prequel/answer/Eric-Lowe-6 -------- END OF QUOTE ---------- I agree with that. As much as I love all the 7 movies it's nothing short of amazing and awesome to see And a comment on the answer I pasted above: "Again another great answer! I agree. The ‘Saga’ is absolutely amazing but it’s also amazing that in addition to more of the ‘Saga’ we’re also getting more of something else too! Everyone’s happy!"
