I thought of that, but if others decided to join you, this seemed the more sensible option. There are still five people or so that have yet to decide.
Already looking at repairs. Because you guys are traveling light (no mobile repair facility), you are having to do "In The Field" repairs. That is going to limit your options in terms of getting everything serviceable. Dihm: Your Griffin can be back to 100% easily enough, but your Warhammer is still banged up pretty bad. If you still want to take the Whammy and no one in your group is willing to share some repair time you might have to go without at least an arm... and maybe a bit more. Sheo: Your KK could be fully repaired, but it would take about 50% of your lance's repair time (assaults take extra time to repair). However, you could easily repair everything except replacing that one arm and that would get you fully repaired minus a single LB10 autocannon. Up to you guys. Derak: You had a tough fight last Turn and took a lot of hits as a result. You could get your Griffin mostly repaired (minus a Left Arm) or you could take your Panther which is ready to go now. The latter would save your lance a ton of repair time. Up to you though. MH: You took very minor damage. Your mech will be easy to fully repair.
I am thinking we get Clamps and both Griffins repaired. Was there anything in the left arm or was it a vestigial appendage? I'd love to roll in Whammy, but I would rather get everyone else as operational as possible
Something else to keep in mind: Having taken the Martillo HQ, the Blacksuns have a sizable defensive advantage for Turn 9 while they await extract. They also have Class E (second best) repair facilities available to them. They will likely deploy a large number of units in fortified positions in hopes of blunting your attack. Expect a tough fight ahead of you. I recommend bringing some artillery and motorized infantry platoons for taking out these fortifications.
If you forgo repairing the Warhammer, that should allow us to get everyone else back to 100%. Derak's Griffin has nothing mounted to his LA so its mostly just a damage sponge. Yeah, I was looking forward to an epic showdown between our two characters, but it looks as though fate will not give us the opportunity.
correct. and don't forget you still have skill rolls to do. however, since we are doing away with the old lance structure, I'm working up a simplified version just to get us through this last Turn.
And if you are worried about the difficulty of the mission, keep this in mind: Because you are facing such a difficult opponent, I am giving you an alternative objective for victory besides "kill everything". The Blacksuns are attempting to haul away as much of the Martillo's ill gotten gains as they can. Things that are of no military value are being distributed among the local populace to encourage their cooperation. The military hardware is being loaded on the Blacksun dropships. Your mission will be to interrupt this operation and force the Blacksuns to extract before they are finished. There will be a truck convoy traveling between the Martillo HQ and the Blacksun dropships. Every truck you destroy or capture will subtract from the Blacksun's rewards and add to yours. The more you stop, the greater the reward for you at the end of the mission. This will continue until either all the trucks are destroyed/captured or all the loot is loaded onto the dropships. You will have to walk a fine line between being aggressive enough to stop the trucks, but cautious enough to not get overwhelmed. Meanwhile, the Blacksuns will have to split their attention between guarding their dropships and guarding the trucks... so their is room for your more mobile units to find weaknesses in their defenses. All that said, you can still try to "kill everything" if you want, but I have to caution such a course will prove extremely difficult. Both sides will have roughly the same BV, but there are other factors such as character Skills & Abilities that are not so easily matched. Also, some of the Blacksuns have spent A LOT of time and money tinkering their mechs. These bonuses do not factor into BV so they are far more dangerous than they may appear at a glance. Not saying you guys are going to lose, just trying to encourage caution.
