I think vanilla they haven't added much content wise (like AI based and such) because they have been focusing on scripting (mostly for players to make the stuff) and optimizing. Because why create stations when it's basically open source and the players can do it? They do credit players if the incorporate the mod or creation into the vanilla game (no idea if they pay them).

Yeah, if you already own it, now is the perfect time to check it out again. There have been a ton of improvements.

My recommendation is to start up a "New Game" and try out the three scenarios included with the game; they are the perfect introduction to what the game has to offer. Specifically in this order:
    1. "The First Jump" is a fun little solo campaign that will also teach you the basics.
    2. "Learning to Survive" will teach you everything you need to know about ship & station building
    3. "Never Surrender" will put everything you learned to the test as you defend your base against waves of enemies. It also allows for Coop play (this mode is a lot harder playing solo, but it's fun to see how long you can last)
It's hard for me to gauge it accurately as I haven't played through them all the way through, but I would wager there is at least 8 hours of gameplay in the three scenarios listed above. And that's all before you even get to what larger scale multiplayer and the modding community have to offer.

If you are looking for more PvE content, there is a ton of it available now. I linked it in my last post, but here it is again:

(I don't recommend turning them all on at once unless you just want to be surrounded by hostile factions).

Well if we ever get a survival server going I made 3 ground vehicles that can work together and would be very useful.

The first 2 are a combo what I have dubbed the Mule and the trailer for it. The Mule only has 1 medium cargo container but entirely battery powered. Does have oxygen generator and tank and a survival kit (so you could really use it to setup a new base). The trailer has 3 medium cargo containers (and to save on frustration a remote control block to drive it when you want to drop stuff off at a connector on a base) also 4 spare wheels. And the mule can pull more than 1 trailer at a time.

And the thingy. I have not named it yet. I'm open to suggestions. But it is a miner with 8 medium cargo containers and a few small (7 or 8). Completely battery powered with 3 solar panels on it. A Survival Kit. 4 sets of hinges (8 total) and 4 sets of pistons (8 total) with a piston set on the miner than 2 sets of hinges than 2 sets of pistons the final 2 sets of hinges than the final set of pistons (and yes it works). 2nd image is opposite side but arm is fully retracted.

Call the thingy the "Ontos". Ontos is the Greek word for "Thing"

Also, why not make it like a full drilling/tunnel boring machine? Then we could use it to dig out an underground base and stuff.

Because those are really clunky (and I'm not that skilled) and these are more starter vehicles. All of those large industrial sized excavators and such I have tried on the steam workshop don't quite work. Maybe it's bad design.

As to the tunnelers I haven't tried any. I suppose with hinges mod it would be fairly easy to go straight and down (well start gently down and level out to lateral.) Not sure how to do side tunnels. Maybe smaller vehicles? I mean for your large block hallways you would only need a 3x3 bore (3 drills across and 3 down.) Though what I made would actually be good for carving out larger rooms since the arm total length is somewhere between 15 and 20 meters (1 large block is 2.5 meters).

Wow. This is so underwhelming now.

    http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Ontos

Supervisor: Hey, what are we going to call our new tank?

Tech: I don't know. How about Ontos?

Supervisor: [doesn't speak Greek] Oooh, I like it. Sounds imposing

    Tech: Yes, sir. Imposing, sir.

Dammit Trev. Now I want to attempt building a smallish large grid tunneler. I've been semi planning it in my head all day.

I give you the Ardennes (breed of draft horse). An upgrade from the Mule.

The cab is primarily battery powered (though it does have 5 small reactors 4 for extra power and 1 for emergency power if all the batteries run out and you can't/don't want to wait for the solar panels to charge). 2 cockpits, and 2 passenger seats, 1 survival kit, 1 oxygen gen and tank. 2 medium cargo containers (conveyored) 6 small containers (non conveyored) 4 of those have each 1 elite rifle and 1 elite of each handheld tool and 1 oxygen bottle and 1 hydrogen bottle. the other 2 small containers are basically for spare parts (enough for replacement wheels at the moment. And 4 jacks. And completely vanilla.

The trailers are essentially the same except in their connection. First one is advanced rotor (because of size. It isn't connected to the conveyor system of the cab. second trailer is a hinge and connector. But the trailers are entirely battery powered with solar panels and have 3 large cargo containers each. aside from the ladder (small ship) the first trailer is vanilla. The 2nd is vanilla aside from the hinge and ladder.

in the latest update (this isn't all they did)

    LCDs (to cockpit blocks)
    • Introduced internal scripts (Artificial Horizon, Velocity, Gravity, Energy&Hydrogen, Analogue and Digital clock)
    • Support for displaying Text with background texture
    • Background coloring
    • Ability to set Border for Text content
    • Sprites rendering from Programmable Blocks and Mods (synchronized in multiplayer)
    • Better LCD ModAPI
    • Added 1st person view to Control Station block, since the LCD can now display useful stuff

finally a mod where I like (for the most part) the style of the weapons.

Vanilla stats on the weapons so it's really just a style/art mod. Though the one gatling is a stronger version (I assume the long barreled one). Smallest is a conveyored interior turret.

^Been hoping for something like this for a long time. Too many weapon mods out there that are entirely OP.

I am not sure if this is still available in the Workshop or if it still works for this version. But this would be a nice thing to use to keep Hydrogen up. I wonder if we could use a lifter and move it where it was needed. Apparently it can mine about 5.2 mil ice at a time.

Guess they are adding a customization to make blocks have the scratches/used/worn look or the clean fresh off the lot look.
