So I am thinking of updgrading my crappy creative speakers to something a little better. I dont have a lot of money to spend especially if I want to start buying some good joysticks etc. So I am looking at http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO Or I heard Logitec has some decent ones out. The ones I have now work ok for gaming as if I really want the experience I put on my headphones. So what I am really looking for is something that can kick ass in the music department. Especially when I am listening to my "happy song"
My immediate thought were these, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836852001 but then I realised that they are at 220$ right now =/ My next thought were these: http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-Soundsticks-III-Multimedia/product-reviews/B0042F3K9W/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1 and they even fit the prizetag!
If I can hijack this just a tad. I'm in a (somewhat) similiar boat looking for a good pair of wireless headphones/mic. My current setup is a cheap wired headset, and the sound has gone out on one side. Not so great! Any thoughts?
Wish I could help you Mez but I know nothing about Audio. With that said however I ran across a post at an audiophile site and on cnet reviews that said this setup would blow the socks off any factory 2.1 setup with a price range of up to 300. Any thoughts on this DIY system? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049P6OTI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A15XKU0PZT1LCR http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009IUIV4A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AFKH6OU9WWNFS
I have the exact 2.1 Klipsch system in your OP. They are excellent. Better than some 500+ 5.1 systems I've heard. They've held up through 3 years and 3 moves too.
Klipsch makes some very nice speakers, so that 2.1 setup would certainly not be a bad investment. However, studio monitors can also be very, very nice. Overall sound quality will probably be better with the monitors, however you will lose some bass from not having a sub (the Klipsch system goes down to 31Hz whereas the monitors only go to 60Hz) which will probably negatively affect the gaming experience, and they take up a lot more space on the desk. Also, look at this handy Q&A from the amazon page for the monitors: http://www.amazon.com/speakers-LP-2020A-Amplifier-computer-Promedia/forum/Fx3G4DYI7XQ4SAJ/TxPW4MJJ2NEA8B/1/ref=cm_cd_dp_aar_al_a?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B009IUIV4A
