you know this horse will never die, right? Even if every fan gave up on it, twenty years later people would be pining for a new Star Wars and Disney would be more than happy to fist them for more money.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind more Star Wars movies (even if I don't see them). I was more alluding to the fact that we basically have 8 pages now of complaining about these movies.
Interestingly, I've noticed fans are really coming out in force against Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, and (to a lesser extent) JJ Abrams now. Media channels are basically on fire over how much Solo has failed in first week of sales and everyone points to each new movie increasingly becoming a disappointment. "The force is female" comments from KK really surprised me. Fucking ridiculous.
Yeah she has mishandled the franchise. Also there's something about her saying they don't have to cater to the male fanbase which while true probably isn't helping. Not sure if this her words or opinion stuff (people reading what they want) I'm reading but along with that was something about 'not needing' male fans. It shouldn't cater to one group over another but it shouldn't be trying to push an agenda. Certainly not make a character a certain way (new or old) for an agenda. Only if it makes sense for the story. Once the political agenda stuff started, Disney should have kicked her out the door.
That means she's not living in reality. Male fans probably make up a majority of the fanbase for Star Wars, I'm talking 60-70%. That's a massive fucking loss of revenue just for your damned ideology.
Even if you did want to use the films to make a point I'm not clear on how declaring the force to be female actually does anything. The Bene Gesserit and the Aes Sedai explicitly had to be exclusively women and I've never heard anybody suggest either of those advanced some feminist agenda.

The current saying is “get woke, go broke”. Funny thing is.. Marvel studios listened to the fans criticism while new lucasfilm told the fans to screw off and they will make the movie how they want.
